Curious about what the more "casual" community thinks (mod users rather than mod creators). Would there be any interest in a long-form video detailing/breaking down the challenges that were faced when backporting Persona 5 Royal content to the PS3 version of Persona 5?

I'm more interested to know WHY would you take time to do this when we can play this content on either a PS4/PS5/Xbox/PC ? Besides the fact that it's not on PS3 obviously, but because you can play it on PC, why bother to port it on PS3 and emulate it?

This wasn't always the case, P5R for a while was a PS4 only game and at the time PS4 emulation pretty much did not exist, making the game both only playable on PS4 and unmoddable.

I see, but when did it come out? I've never heard of it, and before P5R came out on Steam, the only version I've played was the PS3 version of P5 on an emulator since I didn't have a PS3 nor a PS4. (I had a PSVita though so I played Persona 4 Golden just after haha)

@shinosu879870 @LunaLenaVR I don't see how it was "obvious" when for the longest time most of Persona/SMT was releasing exclusively on Sony consoles (with a few spinoffs here and there releasing on Nintendo consoles). This was before a time where Atlus released anything on PC, let alone Switch.

Sure, especially anything regarding royal specific areas, making black mask and violet playable and attempting to recreate the third semester or at least letting the game be playable in January

I assume the difference in rendering budget from PS3 to 4 just made them go hog wild with geometry I’ve noticed that this palace runs worse than the rest of the game on low end PCs and Mac/Android through translation layers as well

Yes, it seems that from the very beginning it was decided Royal would be PS4 only, so all of the new Royal only assets (including Yoshizawa's models) are way higher fidelity/higher polygon count than any of the asses that were carried over from the original version.
