People in India still don’t understand what acclimatization really means, or how important water and oxygen are, and where we are heading with this careless travel culture. Watching reels and suddenly leaving for extreme high-altitude places is dangerous. I stayed at Umling La for almost two hours despite having medical issues, while many people can’t even stay there for 10 minutes all because I properly acclimatized, started drinking 2–3 litres of water two days before the journey, and understood how the body adapts. The worst cases are people who directly reach 18,000 ft from the plains without giving their body any time to adjust. High altitude is not a joke. Your body needs gradual adaptation, awareness, and experience built over years. But who is guiding people? No one. People just watch reels and leave. Always read about the place you are travelling to the altitude, temperature, oxygen levels, road conditions and always talk to locals before heading into extreme regions! 🙏🏻

Your little one is egocentric. But not in the way you might think. We often use the term egocentric to describe adults who behave selfishly, deliberately putting their own needs and desires above those of others. When we speak of egocentrism through the lens of child development, we aren’t describing a character flaw, but rather an inability to understand the world from the perspective of others. Check out this little guy, who’s arrived to pay a visit to his cousin. He knocks on the door, but when a voice from the other side of the door asks “who is it” he answers in true toddler fashion: ME. It’s a lovely example of egocentrism in action. Not yet capable of putting himself in the shoes of the interrogator, our hero fails to recognize that everyone is “me” to themselves and that the answer - while accurate from his perspective - actually fails to provide the information being sought. Responding with his name would have been a more mature response, but it’s one that doesn’t yet occur to him at this tender age. Perspective taking is a skill that develops over time, not emerging with sophistication in many children until 4 or 5 years of age. It is the skill set that underlies the development of empathy. The developmental egocentrism of infants and toddlers is particularly important for parents to keep in mind. When your toddler does or says something you might consider inconsiderate in an older child (or adult), don’t fall into the trap of attributing intention that doesn’t really exist. Cow’s Milk as Thick as Cheese Many people have seen a cow being milked, only for what comes out to be nothing like the familiar thin white stream. Instead, it is a thick, clotted mass that looks like cheese or even pus. The sight leaves viewers both sorry for the animal and confused about what is happening. This is not spoiled milk or some strange anomaly. It is a typical sign of mastitis in dairy cows. The condition occurs when bacteria enter the udder through the teat canal. Once inside, they trigger inflammation. The cow’s body responds by flooding the milk with white blood cells and proteins. As a result, the milk thickens and forms white or yellowish clots, sometimes mixed with pus. The bacteria most often responsible are Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, or E. coli. They easily invade when teats are cracked or injured, or when the barn is dirty and damp. Incomplete milking also leaves residual milk in the udder, creating an ideal environment for bacteria to multiply. Cows that have recently given birth, are under stress, or are poorly nourished have weaker immune systems and are more susceptible. Many people mistake this for colostrum. Colostrum is indeed thick and nutrient-rich, but it appears only right after calving and does not cause pain or swelling. With mastitis, the cow is clearly in pain. Although cattle do not scream the way humans would, the discomfort is intense, especially when force is needed to clear the blockage. LHP Andrew Healy (Duke Baseball) is one of my favorite Sophomore-eligible arms in this year's Draft. Enjoyed an outstanding true Freshman campaign in '23, pitching his way to a 2.32 ERA with 45 K to just 7 BB across 42.2 IP. Great body at 6'6" and 200-lbs. High-waisted with room to fill out. Smooth, aesthetically pleasing operation on the mound. Clean arm stroke and hides the ball well. Attacks from mid-three quarter slot. Pretty low effort delivery. Healy's FB will mostly sit in the 90-93 range, but he has been up to 94/95. It gets on hitters quick and plays particularly well on his arm side/elevated. Little bit of carry to it. Healy has plus command and control of it. His go-to secondary offering is a high-70s CH that on average is 10+ MPH off his FB. Healy maintains his arm speed well and it features serious late tumbling life. Had a 40% miss rate in '23. Would put a 55 on it. Healy features two distinct breaking balls in a high-70s SL and mid-70s CB. SL has long, sweeping action and is particularly deadly against LHH. After throwing it just 5% of the time in '23, Healy this fall has upped his CB usage. It's an okay 4th pitch and at times will flash some depth. Perhaps most interesting about Healy's profile is his ability to generate swings. Last year he posted a 48% overall swing rate and an impressive 70% in-zone swing rate. Overall control/command would grade out as a 60. Healy is a slam dunk starter professionally and could pitch his way into a top-3/4 round Draft choice. (📽️: Duke Baseball)

The bull elephant struggles to take unsteady, painful steps, yet he is still being forced to walk on harsh concrete roads. His right front leg appears badly damaged, and years of being used for begging and heavy labour have taken a painful toll on his body. He urgently needs immediate medical care and rescue. With the support of the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, we are working to bring him to safety and begin critical treatment at our Elephant Hospital Campus (EHC) in Mathura. We have to act NOW. 5-axis CNC machining – but different... Most 5-axis machines use serial kinematics: stack a rotary A-axis on top of a rotary B-axis, mount that on linear X/Y/Z stages. Each axis carries the weight of everything after it. Heavy and slow. 🤖 The Sprint Z3 uses parallel kinematics: three linear drives working together to create BOTH the Z-axis motion AND the A/B tilt simultaneously. No stacked rotary joints. No heavy tilting head carrying a motor on top of another motor. The entire barrel-shaped headstock moves as one unit vertically in the column, while the three internal drives handle the spindle positioning and orientation. ⚙️ How it works: Three linear actuators are arranged in a circle, all connected to the spindle platform through pivot arms. - Extend all three equally → spindle moves straight up/down (Z-axis) - Extend them different amounts → spindle tilts (A/B axes) It's using geometry instead of stacked rotary joints to create tilt 🤔 Why this is useful: Way less moving mass than serial kinematics. Less mass = faster accelerations, higher precision, better surface finish. For high-speed machining, dynamics matter more than workspace. Question: Is this a good design or overcomplicated❓

Just because your baby’s eyes are open doesn’t necessarily mean they’re awake. And the same holds true in reverse. Weird, right? During active (or REM) sleep it’s not uncommon for your baby to open their eyes for brief periods, to make noises, and to move their body actively. The (open eyes) phenomenon, known as psychological lagophthalmos, is common in newborns and may be attributable in part to immaturity of their central nervous system. The important thing here is not to be too quick to assume your little one has finished sleeping just because their eyes open. This video is a great example. Baby’s eyes are partially open, but he is in the midst active sleep (which comprises half or more of each newborn sleep cycle). Likewise, there are situations where your child may appear to be asleep, but isn’t. Particularly in bright, noisy, or otherwise overstimulating environments your child may feign sleep (when they are feeling overwhelmed) as a sort of defense mechanism. This is called habituation. And while it may look like sleep it does not provide the same restorative benefits - and often concludes with prolonged periods of crying as a sort of stress relief. Long story short, you can’t always judge your baby’s level of alertness from their eyes alone - so be sensitive and observant in both circumstances. For previous fan meetings, organizers have used venues such as Skydome, Solaire, and SMX, which many fans found more suitable and accessible for events of this scale. We’d also like to respectfully raise our concerns about the seating arrangement. Many fans are genuinely wondering about the reasoning behind the current setup, as it seems quite unusual and may affect the overall experience. As for the location, many Filipino Jewels have expressed that The Crossroads Center feels like an unexpected choice, with some even having to search for the venue online to familiarize themselves with it. Self organisation is for LAZY coaches! Elite coaches should verbalise all of the nuances of detail to maximise the performance of their athletes. Video analysis should provide you with all of the granular data so that you can make minute analysis and provide the most specific cues for each step in the sprint. 🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥 At the end of last the summer I reached to Frans Bosch to bug him on all things sprinting. It’s been 3/4 years since we had spoken last so it was very refreshing to talk about what I had been witnessing whilst analysing footballers. Somethings that I learnt from him over a decade ago and have consistently used to maximise speed skills. 1) “take the arms out of the running cycle and the body will need to self organise in order to avoid over rotation and thus keep the abdominals in the sweet spot” 2) “Run bouncy with excellent co contractions between hip, knee and ankle will keep the hamstring in the sweet spot, reducing strain” 3) “Stabilise running technique by clarifying how to PROJECT , SWITCH AND REACT (PSR) over increasing amounts of velocity, vectors and variations of instability” 🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬🔬 I took the concept of PSR directly from the heuristics of dpfaff 15 years ago. A man who gives and gives and gives and gives some more. Dan let me bug him for months, write my thesis on him, then I got to stalk him daily for 3 years in the build up to the 2012 Olympics. Coaching the PSR pillers became a very helpful way of reducing the clutter of technical jargon and degrees of freedom. All data is visualised and compared athletes of a similar level within our data base.
