Curtis Jones would probably be a 2nd choice target for Xabi Alonso after Granit Xhaka. This is his type of midfielder, that can run games on his own, £40m is an absolute steal. Would take at Chelsea in a heartbeat.

🚨 David Ornestein 🗣️ Granit Xhaka is a top target for Xabi Alonso. He played under him, succeeded, and enjoyed a great relationship with him at Bayer Leverkusen. We revealed on The Athletic that Chelsea have made an offer of £8 million. That bid has been rejected. Sunderland say they have no intention of selling him. They see him as a key player, their captain, and someone who will lead them into Europe next season. It does seem that Xhaka would like to make the move and reunite with Xabi Alonso. This is the sort of profile that might not have appealed to Chelsea previously, and certainly not if Xabi Alonso wasn't involved. And I'm not sure Chelsea would have appealed to Xhaka either if it wasn't for Xabi Alonso. But it is a fascinating situation, and let's see where it goes from here.

Granit Xhaka links to Chelsea, still producing in the Premier League at his age, top midfielder. Would offer so many things on and off the pitch that this team needs, and Alonso loves him. But turning 34, find someone similar instead.

Here's an example of Granit Xhaka literally coaching the same tactics of Xabi Alonso. You can tell why he wants him as a leader in his team, Chelsea will get better lot quicker. The Managers Reference.

Alex Scott starts for England deep in midfield and they dominate the game start to finish. He can run the show, Xabi Alonso had him as a key target at Chelsea to do this for us too. Top quality midfielder, 2027, he must be a Blue.

🚨Fabrizio Romano Update on Granit Xhaka Sunderland have completely closed the door on Granit Xhaka leaving. It is not about the transfer fee. Chelsea could offer £8m, £12m, £20m, or even £30m, and Sunderland's answer would still be no. They have told Xhaka directly that they want him to stay and see him as a key player for the new season. Because Sunderland are refusing to negotiate, there are no active talks between the clubs. Chelsea still like Xhaka and would be interested if the situation changes later in the transfer window, but for now the deal is on total hold. In simple terms: Chelsea want Xhaka, but Sunderland don't want to sell him at any price right now, so nothing is happening. If Sunderland change their mind later, Chelsea could try again.

Very interesting here from Xhaka. He says after their first pre-season game under Alonso at Leverkusen, Granit asked him to change from a back 4 to back 5. Also said in this interview that he did have talks with Xabi about a move to Chelsea, but chose to stay at Sunderland.

16 year-old midfielder Reggie Watson had the opportunity to train with Chelsea’s first-team this week, in one of Xabi Alonso’s first training sessions as Chelsea manager.😳🔵 Watson signed his scholarship with Chelsea yesterday. Despite only being 15 for the majority of last season, Watson was a regular for the U18s. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented young midfielders in the country.🌟 Xabi Alonso arrived at Cobham this week, ahead of his first season as Chelsea manager.⏳ It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Reggie making his senior debut under Alonso next season.👀 The future at Chelsea is looking bright.🤩👏

WHY Granit Xhaka Could UNLOCK Cole Palmer… At 33, he doesn’t fit the profile of a typical BlueCo signing. But he might be the perfect signing for Xabi Alonso. When the pair worked together at Leverkusen, Xhaka became one of the best passers in Europe. His ability to dictate tempo, play through pressure and find runners from deep was fundamental to Alonso’s system. That relationship could be recreated at Chelsea. Alongside Moisés Caicedo, Xhaka could alternate between dropping into the first phase of build-up and progressing play, while Cole Palmer occupies the pockets between the opposition’s midfield and defence, giving Chelsea elite creators in both deep and advanced areas. Of course, there are risks. At 33, his athleticism isn’t what it once was, so Chelsea would need to surround him with runners rather than ask him to cover huge spaces on his own. But that’s something Alonso has already shown he knows how to manage. And when you compare the reported fee through the Telstar Transfer Index, it falls into a similar range to Claude Makélélé’s move to Chelsea. For a player who already understands every detail of Alonso’s football, that could prove to be one of the smartest deals of the summer. Chelsea fans, would you bring Xhaka to Stamford Bridge? 👀🔵 📹Samson Kalnińş Brough

Aleksandar Stanković is basically like a more powerful type of Enzo Fernandez. Would be a great back up to him for Chelsea, great passing range, top shooter. Can run games, help stop play, is really hard working, love it when we scout well.

Lamine Camara to Chelsea for just £53m is an absolute steal, we are using Enzo money well. Sign a midfielder like this who you can pair with anyone, because he can be a deep playmaker. But also box to box, very smart business.
