#UE5 #gamedev I was once again astonished by the cost of using a scene capture comp (~1ms😡) and I had a gut feeling a better solution was out there... Yes, turns out building a custom particle syst & renderer using Niagara Array & Grid 2D interfaces did the trick (~0.05ms🤯)

I never like to let good grass go to waste, so we are repurposing the grass from last night’s match & laying it over the infield surface at our old softball complex. This will create an expanded area for Texas A&M Soccer to utilize for drills, training, S&C, & small set pieces.

threejs is a forward renderer, since lights are expensive it can't have more than 4-8 lights max. or can it, how about 100.000 point lights. 🤔

I converted the normals from the terrain to a texture in order to use it on the grass so that I can reflect the sun on it. The grass now blends better with the terrain and looks even fluffier! 👉

This replaces scrolling for me now 😅 Had to take one of those little devices for a spin after seeing them everywhere recently. Opus 5 wrote the renderer and sim in C to get the most out of the ESP32 S3. Will do something that leverages mic + speaker next…
