Custom Pins in Tesla Holiday Update!

if you save a pin to e.g. a specific area of a parking lot, when you nav to the saved location does the pin drop in the same spot? need this to be able to indicate preferred parking areas

The next level of specificity is parking garage floor, section, reserved spot, or charging spot. Prefer disabled (avoid by default) in parking lots would be nice too.

I wonder if this would allow me to set a pin at my mailbox, set as park by curbside. And actually stop at the mail box instead of going to the closest house.

Yes that would work, or just set your mailbox as a favorite

Yeah the difference is you can set those pins as home or work now whereas before you had to type in a physical address and had limited options on home/work location.

@UptownPeeeet Nope. You could always do this. The change is mainly to make it easier Previously, you dropped a point. Added the pin to favorites (Star). Cleared your home or work saved location. Add your home or work location and select the dropped pin from the dropdown (which you could name)

I hope it doesn't move later. On 14.2.1 I have managed to set Home to my apt garage a couple of times, even gotten it to back in once, but then the pin moves a few days later.

If you save the pin as work or home that is the name. If you hit the star you can save it as a favorite and name it whatever you want

Thank you! I was wondering how to do this for a specific spot when I arrive to work.

This ended up being disappointingly limiting and not much of an improvement. For instance, it doesn't really pin a location. It's still converts that location to an address. But Tesla map data often times has addresses at the wrong location. So then it moves the pin to the address which is in the wrong place. Also, if it doesn't believe a parking lot or road, is there it will just move the pin to a nearby address rather than actually pinning the location. Not at all what you intended and doesn't help with FSD finding the actual spot you're trying to get to. It's the same disappointment you get when you're trying to send a Google Geo location over to FSD from Google Maps on your phone. It always converts it to an address rather than actually using a geo location, and ends up not pinning where you actually pinned.

so when you drop the pin, hit set at home/work, then navigate there is changes the location?

There's no difference in behavior after the pin is set than prior behavior when I would just type in the address and it would put it the wrong location. I've always been able to move the pin when it's at the wrong location to my house. But then a few days later it moves it back to the wrong location. Same thing happens now when I use the pin home capability. A few days later, moves the pin to that wrong address location. At work, we have an employee parking lot behind the building and FSD refuses to drive there and when I set a pin there it moves it to the center of the building and uses the address for the pin location, and then sets nav to park out front in clinet/customer parking. It does this right away after I set the pin in the back employee parking lot.
