Legal in these states in the USA (image). However! - They are obligate pair/group animals. A single marmoset will scream, self-harm, and develop severe psychological issues. Most experts say minimum 2, 4 is better. - After ~18–24 months they reach sexual maturity and almost always become aggressive/territorial. Many owners get badly bitten and surrender the animal. - Scent-mark with urine constantly; the smell is extremely strong and impossible to fully eliminate. - Require gum arabic (tree sap) daily — expensive and hard to source. Most owners fail at this → metabolic bone disease, broken bones, death by age 5–7. - < 1 % of veterinarians in the U.S. will treat primates. Emergency surgery can run $10k–$20k and still fail. - Rehoming is almost impossible, sanctuaries are full; most end up euthanized or in terrible conditions.

Agreed. Selfish humans don't need single wildlife to fulfill their lives. Most wildlife including a pygmy marmoset needs groups.
