Tesla is integrating Starlink into Cybercab because robotaxis need reliable coverage everywhere, including places where cellular service is weak or completely unavailable, even in Silicon Valley. Starlink will prevent Cybercabs from getting stuck in cellular “Bermuda Triangles” or going missing in action. It will also give passengers reliable internet for conference calls, productivity, movies and even 4K live sports, with a much lower cost per gigabyte than cellular networks.

Elon explained on Tesla’s latest Q2 earnings call why Starlink integration in Teslas is so important. “Starlink will be integrated into all our car vehicles, at least for markets that Starlink is active.” It will start with the Cybercab and is expected to expand across the Tesla fleet. Cybercab is starting to get a lot more interesting! Jo Bhakdi points to new footage from Giga Texas showing Cybercabs rolling off the line, with some apparently without steering wheels. We’ve also now seen Starlink built directly into Cybercab, opening the door to 4K streaming and high-speed connectivity on the road. At this point, the bigger question may not be whether Cybercab can drive itself, it’s how fast Tesla can build and deploy these things at scale. $TSLA
