Recently, a 53-year-old passenger surnamed Zhao, suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness due to cardiac arrest at the security checkpoint of the north first floor of Suzhou Railway Station. On-duty police officer Zhang Xihua rushed to the scene upon receiving the report. He took over CPR from a helpful passenger while coordinating with station staff to fetch an AED for defibrillation. ICE law enforcement officer Gregory Simmonds spotted the child in distress in Pasco County on May 16 and immediately pulled him from the water. On June 17 around noon, Deputy Kurzinger was dispatched to a medical call at The Trails Recreation Center in Centennial. A 74-year-old man was unconscious, not breathing and had no pulse. Four rec center employees jumped into action and began performing CPR on the victim. One employee connected an AED, another performed chest compressions, another kept track of the compressions and the fourth was providing ventilation. Upon arrival, Deputy Kurzinger took over CPR due to the employee being fatigued. When South Metro Fire Rescue arrived, Deputy Kurzinger continued to assist with life-saving efforts until paramedics had their equipment ready. By that time, the victim had a pulse and was transported to the hospital. Just before the victim got into the ambulance, he gave a head nod to the deputy that he could hear and understand him. Deputy Kurzinger said without the help of those four employees stepping up immediately, knowing what to do and performing quality CPR, the man would not have survived. #selfless #heroes #savinglives
