When I finished a long shift full of death and dying the other day, I came home with my two beautiful boys, both special needs, vaccine injured, and for a few hours, life felt light again. We laughed. We played. We were alive. Tomorrow I go back on shift, back into the chaos. Little to no sleep, as always. Just got to shave. :) But before I do, I’m posting a video reading a passage from my book, the part contributed by Dr. Mary Talley Bowden. He's done crazy things. But he was passionate about it. He built up a whole effort. And actually in my division at the time in Google X. We had him but I didn't I was like okay Jeff you do whatever you want. He's like oh we can tell cats from dogs. I'm like oh okay cool. But you know, you also trust your technical people and soon enough they were developing all these algorithms these neural nets that were doing some of our search. I coded a Speech-to-Text model from scratch. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞: No APIs. No pre-trained models. Just PyTorch, an A100 GPU, and hours of debugging. This started months ago. I wanted to understand how machines hear. Not surface-level understanding. I wanted to build the whole thing myself. So I built it piece by piece: autoencoders, VAEs, VQ-VAEs, Residual Vector Quantization, and CTC loss. Each one took days to get right. Trained for 3 hours on 13,100 audio clips. Got complete garbage. Changed the tokenizer from BPE to character-level. Rechecked everything. Asked AVB who built STT models before. His answer: these models are tricky to train and need days of compute, not hours. Cut the dataset to 200 clips. After 2 hours, actual words appeared. Overfitted? Absolutely. But watching noise turn into recognizable English was satisfying. This video isn’t for most people they’ll say it’s anti semitic unhinged and pure hate because it’s about time travel and the inevitable outcome of good and evil. But if it’s for you, you aren’t alone. From all my deplatformings and what I’ve seen I assume anyone with large public visibility is full of shit. I watched “them” kick my wife off airbandb and fire my mom. That being said….maybe I’m still easy to fool because deception and immorality on a long enough time scale is a horrible idea, so I naturally assume benevolence. I’ve had to force myself to see the wickedness in people. Ok…this may sound gay. But I think Candace Owens may be a real person. MILO told me she is, and although he’s a good hearted snake who has a folder on everyone, his judgment is solid. I always make fun of her for dating her husband a week on a zoom before getting engaged because that sounds objectively crazy. But I heard her admit that it obviously sounds crazy but it’s just how it happened. All I ever ask of people is they acknowledge reality. Like if Ben Shapiro was like “yes my head wobbles while I talk and I have evil dead eyes but deep down I’m cool” that would go a long way in my book. Anyway….Im really really pumped she’s talking about the darpa time travel shit. I had a chip on my shoulder when it was just the stuff we all got kicked off YouTube for as she’s “gaining new ground.” But I’m now genuinely pumped about the stuff she’s talking about and maybe I just want it to be true, but maybe she actually figured out how to do it on YouTube.
