This Dividion 3 baseball player was given a tounge lashing by his coach for not hustling out of the batter’s box and admiring his homerun. The coach yells at him to hustle because he doesn’t know if it’s going to be a home run and he needs to hustle. He tells him if he ever does that again, it will be his last at bat there. Some are saying the coach is being ridiculous, let the player have fun. Others are saying the coach was right on the money and that’s what is wrong with players today- too much showboating. What do you think? Do you think the coach overacted or do you think he was correct?

Lifelong readers aren’t born, they’re made. I can’t get enough of this little one, who finds the most exciting discovery at the grocery store: books. Watch his reaction. His excitement. And the way he plops right down on the floor to dig in. It probably won’t surprise you to learn that reading holds a special place of honor in this household - or that this family’s IG account is jam packed with book content. There’s more to learning to read than being read to, of course. But the desire and inclination to read… the association between books and pleasure…those are all things you can begin developing from Day One by making daily reading a part of your child’s life. This umpire was behind the plate calling a game. He overheard the moms in the stands saying this young man up to bat was having a bad day, had injured his knee and was hurting pretty bad and needed a hug. So, he asked him if he needed a hug, he said yes, so he called time out and the Blue obliged and gave him a hug. A simple act of kindness. If we could do more of these things what a better place this world would be. 💯 Our youth need more leadership like this. Have you ever seen an umpire call time out and go give the batter a hug? Don’t you think coaches, parents and other umpires alike could learn a thing or two by watching this guy?

Anyone have something on this? Was probably the best single out of my high school times in my opinion. Ended up losing this one but energy of the game and chance to get the runner out was a memory that will last forever. How can you not like baseball !!!

A childless life is one of the saddest lives a person can live. It’s sad bc you miss out on one of the greatest forms of happiness a human can ever experience. This is the kind of joy that doesn’t come from $, status, or freedom. Rather, this pure joy comes from loving someone more than yourself. And also there’s a deeper thing of not having kids. Your story, your values, your genetics, all the things that make you unique, don’t get carried forward. Having kids is a bet on the future. It’s like saying, I think tomorrow is worth investing in. But when you choose not to, you’re opting out of the future you could’ve helped shape. This is the kind of happiness, which imo is the highest level of happiness a human can feel, that only exists when you have kids. Being human is awesome. Make more beautiful humans. Have kids. You will never feel ready, and I promise, you won’t regret it.

President Carter’s time on this earth is coming to an end according to his grandson Jason Carter. What a great man. At 99 he has accomplished so much. With an election coming up let’s remember all he has done for voting rights. Jason Carter: "My grandfather is doing okay. He has been in hospice, as you know, for almost a year and a half now, and he really is, I think, coming to the end. I’ve said before, there’s a part of this faith journey that is so important to him, and there’s a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end and I think he has been there in that space."

I was driving home a few days ago and randomly started thinking about Marc and wondering what he was up to. I hadn’t seen him in almost 10 years. He was one of the first pros I ever traveled with because we were both sponsored by Matix. When you’re young, you remember the pros who were genuinely nice to you. Marc was always the coolest. He would disappear for long stretches at a time, but every time I saw him again, it was a big hug. He genuinely wanted to know what I was up to and how life was going. Want your child to take an interest in literacy? Remember that in child development you reap what you sow. Daily reading (ideally configured face-to-face) is a wonderful way to plant the seeds of language and literacy with your baby from their earliest days. Not only will reading together substantially boost your child’s vocabulary over time, but it illustrates a powerful lesson: this is something YOU value and enjoy. And as I’ve written a thousand times, your baby wants nothing more than to be just like you. Don’t be discouraged as you get started. Infants have very short attention spans and will initially spend more time attuned to you than the book (hence the face to face), and may seek to explore books first with their mouths (which is why sturdy, laminated board books are a great first choice).
