I had a Rat Terrier, he knew what his calling was. He was also an incredible retriever, never taught him that, either.

I had a Schipperke-Chihuahua that caught and killed a chipmunk, a mole and a bird! Smokey was fast and fearless; he cornered an opossum once but I grabbed him before he went in for the kill. Very glad we don’t have any rats to catch around here 😳🐕🐾🐀…

I grew up in central Florida surrounded by forest. My dog was a mix of Boston terrier and African Basenji. I'd find dead coral snakes and pygmy rattlers in the backyard all the time. Here he is with my cousins in 1972.

Patterdale terrorist's are the best ratters

I believe that's a patterdale terrier. I had one. Little bastards love to hunt and are smart driven dogs.

Rat terriers were bred explicitly for this job.

Awesome but how do you guarantee doggo doesn't pick up some disease or fleas?!

I honestly feel like dogs are more happy like this than sitting all day long doing nothing or just going for walks. This is the equivalent of a human finding their purpose.

NO way would I risk that much disease and illness on my dog. What an idiot!! I'd want my dogs as far away as possible with those 4 legged little bags of death running around.

That was me & my jack russell in the UK in 78 when the general strike was on. Was paid 2p per rat by the dads on the street to watch over the garbage piles in the road, me,my catapult and dog made good pocket money!

Just make sure the dog doesn't eat them like my German Shepherd did when she caught one. With my hands around her neck trying to stop her she crunched it up and swallowed it whole. It was a big barn rat.

Watching ratters work is second only to watching border collies move a flock. Amazing dogs, all around.

Ratting is way better than Poisen. The expirenced dog or marten kill way quicker.
