Dan Bongino with a phenomenal segment on the current media environment. He highlights how many are jumping to conclusions with no evidence, because social media incentivizes engagement rather than accuracy. Some of y’all have gotten too comfortable. Worth a listen. Dan Bongino

@R_G_Wasielewski @dbongino Did you watch the video? He is referring to the conspiracy theorists who jump to conclusions, making the rest of us look bad and giving fodder to the left to discredit us.

@dbongino He’s spot on. I’ve been watching it happen on Twitter, people posting their theories and “authoritative” opinions about the Baltimore tragedy. Some seem like clickbait bs, and some are from users who get paid by Twitter for engagement. Full Investigation needs to happen.

@dbongino Im beginning to think many lf the accounts are ran with purpose to push division in America. Lots post constantly with videos or post pushing a racial, anti government, anti police rhetoric with videos clipped or posted to imply a tone.

I disagree. Decentralised distributed “anon” OSINT way of sharing and analysing information is faster and more efficient at sorting wheat from chaff & sifting out BS. Look how fast feds trying to entrap at events get outed. A new story comes out in the morning, spreads far & wide & the collective processes it & each adds their perspective & bits others missed or didn’t know about, and dots are connected. People just need to get used to how the different model operates, because it’s not hierarchical top down with gatekeeper authorities looking for single conclusive proofs, it’s a constant iterative process, where new details can be added at any time by anyone and reveal a new picture. People need to get out of the habit of focusing on the messenger & wasting time worrying about whether person X or Y can be trusted, because it’s not really important, even infiltrators can provide something of use, the best way to lie is mix it with truth, and this works by keeping open to any and all information, throwing it into the mix, & the collective sorts it out. One person may know a source is suspect, but that just means everyone can then take it into account and learn something about what message they are pushing to maybe muddy the waters … I really think this is the way things will work going forward, as everything comes crashing down & everyone loses faith in the old institutions & “education” model, instead OSINT is open source, transparent, and corruption resistant. Everyone just needs to get used to the new way of working.

@dbongino Totally agree. Lately it seems “we” are no better than “them” (msm) by just spewing what we “feel in our gut” or want to be the case, instead of looking at the facts. Don’t be a Homer (“Facts are meaningless. You can use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely true”)

@dbongino I have unfollowed, muted and or blocked numerous accounts that keep jumping to conclusions either in an attempt to increase engagement or from pure ignorance. Either way, I want facts and reasoned skepticism, not hysterical conspiracies.

@dbongino He makes valid points. Part of what drives the speculation is the extent to which the government has lied to us about so many events (from JFK assassination to the ChiCom spy balloons). It has become natural to immediately discount the government's narrative on such events.

@dbongino A big part of the problem is that people now know their traditional institutions are full of liars, and can never be trusted to tell the truth.

@dbongino It's not a "both sides" thing. The overwhelming majority of comments by those jumping to conclusions is the GOP - they take EVERYTHING & politicize it as much as they can without facts, evidence, truth or reality to back them up. They're miscreants, opportunists, & 99% WRONG.

@dbongino Every topic is bastardized on socials, half the pictures and videos are doctored, content creators set-up the situations they pretend are naturally occurring, and some accts are always purposefully wrong so people will engage by correcting the OP.
