Prime Minister Chris Luxon responds to criticism his National party has betrayed farmers and that New Zealand should withdraw from the Paris agreement. The PM claims such action would cause larger companies and whole countries to ban our produce from sale and it would “hurt New Zealand bad”. Farmers counter this view by saying it hurts them to stay in too. More and more countries are exiting the Paris agreement with Australia and Canada probably the next to leave. (if their govts change in elections that are soon due) NZ’s major trading partners are (China - $11 billion, United States - $5.42 billion, Australia - $5.2 billion, Japan - $2.62 billion. South Korea - $1.37 billion) These countries may have acknowledged or signed up to the accord in various ways, but no real scientific body expects them to meet their commitments. The Paris agreement is an impracticable farce that no one can comply with. Therefore all countries should withdraw. Global and New Zealand farmers especially must be given the freedom to produce food without the onerous constraints of UN driven socialist/ supernatural beliefs. Attempting to comply is driving food prices through the roof, and its an insane futility that just has to stop.

The second allegation made is that the insertion of the words “accept” or “approve” was done after the sitting of the Finance Committee. These terms were not, in fact, deliberated on or concluded by the Finance Committee, despite Sinawo Tambo’s proposal that the committee start by taking a position to either accept or amend the proposal, which would, in turn, inform the report and not the other way around.
