I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again if 2008/2012 Dancehall was released today with the internet and those same quality control and producers like Di Genius, Chimney, Don Carleone, Notice, Daseca, Cashflow just to name a few Dancehall would be a Global sensation

@vandolharris Afrobeats is different because it was successful before it was commercial, Nigeria has 220 M people and large communities outside so artists can tour the world regularly before becoming famous.

@vandolharris The subtitles tho 💀

@wisocial 😂😂

@vandolharris As a nigerian and jamaican man, i do think Vybz Kartel's incarceration really hurt dancehall in terms of the video portion and making the songs become larger. He's made many songs and bless his soul for making them under those conditions but when people cant see u it hurts

@vandolharris Vybz being locked up hurts. Rhianna being a mom. Figured Shensea would be bigger. Good points where made.

I think project Shenseea is underway sooner than we think, they’re working on her body and performance presence they just need to get the music right and it’s she’s IN

@vandolharris In my honest opinion… it’s a content and branding issue and nothing else… and it’s why Sean Paul is an exception… the couple dancehall hits this year weren’t really able to scale to a broader audience cuz of subject matter and branding

@vandolharris Dancehall have a problem... the artists that are pushed " hyped" aren't good and the ones who get pushed aside are good. Dancehall is a performance based art and we have artists who can't perform or put together songs that the world can listen to.. its sad but a wi as 🇯🇲 kill it
