I’m still stunned Paul Dano didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for There Will Be Blood. I understand the Best Supporting Actor field was loaded that year (Bardem, Affleck, PSH, etc.) but there needed to be room for Dano. He literally goes toe-to-toe with peak Daniel Day-Lewis.

From Tarantino's comments about Paul Dano in 'There will be blood' (2007), I just can't able to fathom whether he thinks Dano's performance was bad (which wasn't) or if he just doesn't like Dano's personality in real life. If the latter is true, then his views are prejudiced.

It doesn’t sit right with me that Philip Seymour Hoffman didn’t win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for The Master. Christoph Waltz was flawless in Django, but his performance in Django is cut from a similar cloth as Inglourious Basterds- and not as good. PSH in The Master is a once-in-a-lifetime performance. He should’ve won the Oscar for that exact reason.

Denzel Washington’s Oscar-nominated performance in Flight has to be at the top of the list when ranking Denzel’s best work. Had he not run into Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln, Denzel would’ve undeniably won a second Oscar for Best Actor. Denzel is unhinged here- he’s just totally off the rails & his performance has so much range. This guy is just totally unpredictable as an actor & I cannot get enough. I love Flight.
