Danso is a big problem. Take this situation, for example: •Fulham launched the ball forward under pressure •Very easy ball to handle for a CB we could apply even more pressure on them •Danso give them the ball with no pressure, allowing them to score

⚽ Fulham’s pre season is underway, and the squad has used this S&C practice as part of its conditioning work, with a focus on shielding and protecting the ball under pressure. 🔹 Shielders score points by keeping possession for a set period. 🔹 Successful shielders remain in the role. 🔹 Pressers must win the ball to reverse the roles. Coaching Points ✅ Adopt a side on body position ✅ Keep the ball on the safe side ✅ Use your body to protect the ball ✅ Stay low and balanced ✅ Maintain a strong base ✅ Use your arms legally ✅ Scan for pressure ✅ Take small, controlled touches ✅ Move away from pressure 📌 Save this practice for your next session and follow us for more football coaching content. #FootballCoaching #StrengthAndConditioning #PlayerDevelopment #Shielding #BallProtection #Fulham

Too many players guard the ball passive. We need our players to impact and disrupt the ball - No Comfy QBs. Here’s our 3-part progression: #1. 12 Seconds of Hell A continuous 4sec–4sec–4sec rep to teach layered ball pressure: 4 sec of ball tracing: hand above the ball (not across body), pressure passers, pop back on rips. 4 sec of live dribble: small space containment, stunt and recover. 4 sec of dead ball pressure: vocal pressure “DEAD DEAD DEAD,” limit vision, force back foot passes. #2. Man in the Middle A simple drill that goes back to childhood. 2 passers, 15 ft apart. No overhead passes. Defender must slap the ball to start each on-ball rep. If they force a deflection, errant pass, or movement from the receiver → passer is in the middle on defense. #3. Fake Game 1v1 with only 1 or 0 dribbles. Forces defenders to pressure and disrupt without getting blown by. If they sag too much, they give space for an easier shot or downhill free dribble. If they pressure, they learn to force wide and force tough shots. We call it HEAT. Every defender's heat is different, but everyone needs to impact the ball in some way. No spectators or statues on the ball waiting to be attacked.

The referee, standing right next to them, did not give a penalty for this. He said it was on the ball.

Defenders who guard the ball with their hands down are a passer's dream: - No ball pressure - No visual challenges - No influence on decision-making - Time to scan the entire floor - Time to let plays develop You might as well not be guarding the ball at all

These are the situations we need to exploit. Everton are forcing us wide & maintaining their pressure on the ball. Play there, invite them to bite & target the spaces behind Gueye once he engages.

Wael Mohya, 17 y/o, using the leg as a barrier 🚧 against pressure to keep himself between opp’-ball 👨‍🚀 Intent with the space he wants to take, doesn’t play the immediate pass to his winger for a 2v1 to relieve pressure from himself - takes responsibility

🚨If we get an opportunity to play India at the Asian Games, we will put them under pressure - Mike Hesson🤯 Mike Hesson said :🗣️ "India is the benchmark in terms of white ball cricket at the moment, and our challenge is to catch up to them. We are certainly preparing the best we can so that, if we get an opportunity to play India, we will put them under pressure, like we did in the Asia Cup final. So look, there's a lot of cricket to be played between now and being able to play in the final for both sides. So, we are not getting too far ahead of ourselves ".
