📸✨ Where is the James Webb Space Telescope? It’s not orbiting Earth — it’s 1.5 million km away at a spot called Lagrange Point 2 (L2)! 🚀 But JWST doesn’t sit exactly at L2 — it moves in a smooth loop around it, called a halo orbit. 🌀 This orbit keeps JWST from ever falling into Earth or Moon’s shadow, ensuring constant solar power and a stable temperature for the giant sunshield. ⚡❄️ JWST looks at the universe in infrared light, which is basically heat. If the telescope itself gets even a little warm, it could end up detecting its own heat instead of distant galaxies! 🔥😬 That’s why JWST must stay colder than -233°C (-388°F). To do that, it uses a massive five-layer sunshield — always positioned between its delicate instruments and the Sun, Earth, and Moon. ☀️🌍🌙⬅️🛡️📷 All the heat stays on one side, and the science happens in the cold, quiet shadow on the other. This new JWST image is so wild, I get why some people think space is fake. 🤯 But it’s real! It's a perfect Einstein ring caused by a foreground galaxy warping the light of a spiral galaxy behind it. Amazing!
