Ok, let's break it down, line by line: Data centers = jobs Data centers will provide a few short-term jobs, that is true. But the purpose of AI is to eliminate jobs. For every job that is created, a hundred will be lost. At least. Data centers = affordability Honestly, this claim refutes itself. Tell me about my electric bill. My water bill. My food bill. . Data centers = growth that outpaces our debt. Tell me you don't know how money works, but in fewer words. Data centers = infrastructure & schools Infrastructure for data centers, sure. But you will take all the power and turn America into a sinkhole, stealing all the water. Schools? really? it means "Schools"? How? Data centers = prosperity It certainly does, but not for Americans. Just for the already filthy rich. Bonus: What happened to "climate change"?

Talk about lying propaganda! Please stop with all this fear mongering bullshit. The whole “China” is hiding under your bed to scare people BS. Facts: Gallup poll from March 2026, which found 27% favor and 71% oppose constructing data centers for AI in their local area. Either someone is paying you to lie or you are lying because you are profiting off these AI data Center.

I'm old enough to remember when the 2000's were supposed to be this tech utopia where things were cheap and life would become much easier because of all the crazy tech. Never happened and life has become progressively worse despite tech getting better.

Anyone else notice that it’s one group of people, from a certain country whose only economic sector is technology, that is ramming the data centers and corresponding surveillance state down our throats? Kinda feels like they are trying to establish a Gaza 2.0 here

Farming = Jobs Farming = Affordability Farming = Growth that outpaces debt Farming = infrastructure, schools, manufacturing, reduction in poverty and famine Farming = health and prosperity Stop farmers from selling our land to Data Centers and China.

That's a very interesting way to frame a potential Ghost-GDP and a surveillance state. You make techno-fascism sound so fun

They're already obsolete and everything you just stated is false. 1) We don't want them 2) They're not for the public good 3) We don't have to accept them

Data centers mean massive amounts of information. Information is power. It's no wonder the big tech oligarchs want them. The Democrats are against them at this time. If they were in power they would want them. The Republicans are in power at this time.. therefore they want them to remain in power. As it is they do whatever they want no matter what we the people want

This person works public policy for Riot Platforms, a Bitcoin miner now leasing its Texas sites to AI labs under deals worth billions. He profits if more data centers get built and subsidized. Jobs mostly means short term construction crews. Once running, a giant facility needs only a handful of operators because the servers are automated. Locals do not get a new employment boom. Affordability is the opposite of what many households experience. Extra demand has driven wholesale power costs sharply higher in grids like PJM. Those costs get spread onto residential bills while the data centers often negotiate special rates. Infrastructure and schools is marketing. Projects routinely receive property tax abatements. The new substations, transmission lines, and water systems they require are paid for by existing ratepayers, not gifted to the public. Prosperity accrues to the companies that own the chips and the buildings: Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, OpenAI, and miners like Riot, plus their shareholders. Nearby residents get higher bills, more noise, more water use, and little say. The video’s empty shelves to sunny town montage is classic fear then hope framing. It skips the actual trade off: concentrated corporate gains versus diffuse local costs that communities keep voting against. 71% oppose an AI data center next door. Stopping every project would hurt US AI capacity. Pretending every project is an unalloyed public good is the gaslight.

Two years ago the Republicans were saying windmills are killing birds and terrible for the environment. Now we should just allow data centers with no questions asked?

You're an idiot. Don't start with the jobs BS. It's very temporary jobs. All the shills doing these posts at the exact same time. What do you hope to get out of boot licking?

Jasmine Marrs's profile picture

Data centers create temporary jobs that go away when construction is completed. Data centers are contaminating our water systems. Data centers emmit constant noise which can damage hearing in people and animals. Data centers emmit soo much light that if one is built next to you it will never be dark. Let's see what did I leave out......... Oh yeah some Data centers are using illegal stacks to offset the heat which is polluting the air and causing cancer rates in nearby communities to rise, but sure all good, good, good!

Ya know..stop the bullshit, K? Data Centers do NOTHING for "affordability". They create a TINY bit of temp jobs and even TINIER bit of perm jobs. They have NOTHING to do with "prosperity", "infrastructure" or "schools". How do you people LIE SO. MUCH? Is it the paychecks?

What jobs? The debt is purely fiction. To whom is the 300 trillion owed? Go print the cash and problem solved.

How do data centers give us any of that ? They actually take jobs They Take all our clean water creating water shortages And we already have enough Why do we need more everyday? When does it stop We don’t even have a stable power grid to support them When the power goes out everyone will act like they have no idea what caused it Any influencer supporting data centers or flock is a paid off shill

None of that is technically true. Short term construction jobs. affordability in what? I don't want mass surveillance. Schools are pointless if there's UBI. Data Centers = end to freedom, noise pollution, energy and water being syphoned and agricultural land being wasted. It is the end of humanity. It is unGodly.

I want to know what, specifically, they are for. The use cases you list dont really warrant the scale we are being pitched as we already FAR exceed any other country. If its for the appetite AI surveillance needs for computer and storage to run millions of gov cameras, hard pass.

It seems that all this pushing, immediacy of data centers is to get them built before we find out what they are for. Why can't we pose questions and take more time to think about it?

What jobs do they create? The jobs during the construction phase? Once its built those are gone and the facility is mostly empty How do they help make things affordable? How do they help lower our debt? Data centers are infact NOT schools lol. There is no way they help with "prosperity" when they destroy natural resources and polute the air with chemicals and noise. You've clearly been paid to push the government narrative that "data centers are good and if you dont want them youll be stupid and poor" 🙄 nobody trust a word any or you mockingbirds say anymore because you only have 1 playbook and you use it tirelessly on every single issue you want pushed on the public. China only has 375 data centers to Americas 5,400+ data centers, if there is a so called "AI race" we've already won it and the only thing yall vould possibly be pushing at this point is the surveillance state.
