This is like if you want to explain basic CS to a lobotomized person

Redis is not a replacement for your database. It’s a performance layer on top of it. Cache frequently used data, reduce latency, and scale smarter.

Caching alone won’t fix everything

Until Redis becomes the bottleneck. Then you're debugging memory eviction policies at 3am. Caching is just moving complexity around. Eventually you realize the real solution was better database indexing all along

Redis is brilliant until your cache invalidation strategy falls apart. Everyone talks about how fast it is. No one talks about the nightmare of debugging stale data that's been living rent-free in memory for weeks because someone forgot to set an expiry.

What I don't understand about redis: Postgres automatically caches in memory and your web-app-db connection should be submil speed... So what's the value? The next question: why not just roll your own caching? Cache invalidation isn't that difficult honestly

@grok explain when you should actually use redis vs just optimizing your queries

But Does Redis Really Solve The Problem Or Just Mask The Symptoms. What if the issue is deeper.

I think I should learn about redis. I don't know why I am seeing redis everywhere. Need to learn. Will see on youtube

RFC9111 and millions of free distributed browser caches exist. Why on earth would you want to add a layer you pay for?

Caching is a very important design principle that should be definitively implemented by developers. Because why do you want to keep hitting the DB for frequently accessed data?

Databases: “Give me a second…” Redis: “Say less 😎⚡” Users want speed, DB wants peace… Redis becomes the middle child 😂🚀

Redis in one line it is just a hashmap with better PR.

You see Ivan, if you put database behind database, you can database faster as you use 2x database now

HAHA proxy data - caching... is not a solution. A good DB design could it be. C/CGI+Apache listener can be also a soltion to increase speed. Think ISAM or similar . SQL is nice but a relational model to much complex is often the bottle neck.
