@DataRepublican Congress no longer listens to the Americans they are supposed to represent.

Senate Republican leader Thune is already falling back on the 60 vote filibuster threshhold as his excuse for the Save Act failing to pass. He's trying to placate Trump and others demanding the Save Act be brought up for a vote, so he's put the bill on the floor. But he knows they are never going to get the needed Democrat votes to invoke cloture.

The United States lags behind other nations throughout the world when it comes to voter ID. 🗳️47 nations in Europe require voter ID. 🗳️The Czech Republic and Russia require passports or military-issued IDs. 🗳️Colombia and Mexico require a biometric ID to vote. 🗳️Canada, Brazil, India, and Sweden all require some sort of photo identification when voting. @GOP @SenateGOP

People crave power and those who seize it are seldom motivated by pursuit of the greater good. We are a selfish lot. Government = Power and power enables those who have it to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses. A government pledged to wield power solely in defense of personal liberty can't last long because the people entrusted with power cannot resist the temptation to employ it for their own benefit. Jefferson believed We the People crossed our Rubicon during his lifetime. At the time of his death, he was convinced that the sons and grandsons of the patriots had squandered the promise of the revolution and made a mockery of the patriots' sacrifice by consolidating power in Washington and employed it to pursue their own self-interests. We the People are our own worst enemy.

Just say it: Our representatives DON'T represent their constituency. Our representatives represent their lobbyists. Most of the lobbyists that OWN OUR representatives don't even live within the representatives' area of representation to vote for them. But they get the only seat at the table of representation.
