This is what psychologists call the "arrival fallacy." You spend years chasing a goal, and when you finally get there, your brain's reward system goes quiet. The dopamine was never about having the thing. It was about pursuing it. So success becomes a trap because now you've lost the chase that gave your life meaning, and you're stuck performing a role that no longer fits who you've become. Chappelle understood something most people learn too late: when the cost of staying is your sense of self, walking away isn't quitting. It's the most powerful act of self-preservation there is.

I love Dave... Hes right about fame. It can be an addiction along with the money it brings. I'm glad he found peace. This is a really brilliant analogy.

Dave Chappelle's analogy: Hunters set a "salt trap" for baboons. They dig a small hole, drop in salt (baboons crave it), and wait. The baboon reaches in, grabs the salt, but its fist won't fit back out. It refuses to let go—even as the hunter approaches—and gets caught. He saw himself as the baboon, with fame/success as the salt. He let go and walked away to stay free. Success traps you when you grip it too tight.

That was so freaking Hilariious. But frankly that's CNN depiction of bushmen. The bushmen of South Africa don't find water that way. America really messing with your heads of how Africa looks and all and yall swallow it hook line and sinker
