Today in Rock History May 11, 2024 Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters played a prank on the audience at Welcome to Rockville. Grohl claimed he never gets the chance to play guitar solos, then launched into a rendition of Van Halen’s “Eruption,” complete with all the hammer-ons and EVH techniques. Just as the crowd got into it, the giant screen revealed Wolfgang Van Halen shredding the song side stage.

He gets medical attention but returns to finish the show, propped up while someone holds his leg. The rest of their European tour is cancelled while he gets surgery, but the tour resumes on July 4 in Washington, DC, with Grohl performing from a custom-made guitar throne.

He doesn’t mime, he sings live and still sounds clean. He engages the crowd and gets everyone on their feet. His timing with the band/track is tight, no sloppy delivery. His energy is consistent from start to finish. He controls the stage effortlessly. He knows when to let the crowd sing and when to take over. He can handle any crowd, small, big, dead, or wild. You want to bracket all of this to girls grinding on him on stage make Ogunzz take you for me 😂

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits showing the finger-picking style guitar playing on a TV show in 2015. Knopfler has an amazing ability to play with fingers when he is compared to other guitar players. He plays many different scales and tunes on the guitar and all of them may require some other skills that he has to have. However, he does this with his talent on his finger tips. As he couldn't get an amplifier during his guitar learning process, he learnt how to play with fingers. He composed Sultans of Swing on an acoustic guitar that he had back in the day but he didn't record the song. Instead, he put aside the lyrics of the song and when he got an amplifier and fender strat, he re-played the song and then he recorded it.
