This should be the last game of the season the showpiece event. A three o’clock kick off and if it’s a draw a replay Thursday evening. The only games left after this should be the international games and then the season finished until August

The coverage was so much better as well. The early build up on Football Focus an hour ago was very poor. Could be just another Premier League game.

It's so sad. Should be the biggest day of the year. How on earth can it be played while league games are going on. The biggest damage done IMO was allowing Man United to drop out that season. Never recovered as a competition since then for me

It's absolutely tragic that the youth of today will NEVER experience FA Cup final day as it used to be. At the hotels, players leaving the hotel, Celebrities joining in, a special edition of Question of sport. The whole day from waking up was about the best football fixture

Death by a thousand cuts. Wembley going partially seated (thereby reducing the magical 100k attendance), semis at Wembley, the introduction of the Champs League, the rise in Prem prize money, messing with KO times, getting rid of the final replay etc etc etc

I always think that making Wembley a completely new stadium was an error. Make changes but don’t lose the iconic things that made it famous. The old steps, the towers and Wembley way. All could have been improved rather than changed or got rid of.

It was only yesterday that I found out the Cup Final is being played today. Growing up Cup Final day was my favourite day of the year. It’s sad how it’s now just a footnote in the current football calendar

Not just the FA, the TV companies constantly pushing Premier League reserve sides against each other on TV whilst ignoring potential giant killing ties. Clubs pushing for removal of replays then flying off to the far east for meaningless friendly games the day after the season.

ITV and BBC built the day around the FA Cup final leading up to 3pm. Everyone knew it was Cup Final day. Tradition has been tarnished and now it can and never will be the same. Nothing will ever bring back the glory days.

Yep - it’ll never be like this again. People of a certain age though will be grateful for the fact they have their memories of this once in a season day!
