The kind of Catholicism practiced by Italians is the result of a profound inculturation that has been ongoing for many centuries. Italians are not a rigid or logical people. Their world is one of deep passions, emotions, and festive exuberance. It's only natural then that the religion they practice would be shaped and influenced by that temperament. That the Catholic Church has successfully managed to do this is a testimony to its enduring ability to be a truly universal faith, not a narrow and parochial one. It's a tragic shame that so many outsiders seem unable to perceive this and instead hurl insults and condemnations because they are either too close-minded or ignorant to understand (or even desire to) how such a unique expression of a religion could have been created and continue to exist, nourishing those who partake in it.

APPLEBAUM: There are certainly people around Putin who've already come to conclusion that war can't be won, that main goals can't be achieved. Namely, the goal of making Ukraine part of Russia, that's never going to happen, it's impossible. There must be people around Putin who are already saying, "If that's never going to be achieved, then why are we still fighting?" That's the same logic that drove the French out of Algeria and eventually drove the British out of India. It's the realization that this is a different country, we aren't going to win the war there. That we're just throwing people and treasure against a national force that isn't going to give up. The question is: at what point does Putin understand that the war is not winnable, and is it going to be him who understands it, or will it be whoever follows him? Which is often the pattern, by the way, in colonial wars: the person who ends them isn't the person who started them.

When asked whether the ending of #LovesAmbition is a HE or BE #ZhaoLusi: HE? Hahaha I think it's considered to be a Happy Ending. Because in the end, she no longer has the same desire that she used to have in the beginning, that was to be a Rich Man's wife. That kind of ending. I think she found the True Self that she wants. I just feel that since everyone is always occupied with working everyday, they seem to be following the pace of the world rather than their own pacing. At the end of this drama, it's all about how I managed to find the rhythm of my own heart. Becoming a person that I truly want to be and lead a life that I want to. So it's rather encouraging while watching this show. To those who think that it's already the lowest point in life, (Teasing) actually no, it might get even lower later hahaha but that is Life"

The idea that we should abandon abundance in the name of attacking corporations misses the point that government should be a competent institution that can accurately — and thoroughly — review and challenge corporations when they're doing wrong.

I've seen some pushback from a few monarchists, or possibly fans of KC, who complain that people will never be satisfied, or that people are 'wanting blood', or 'wanted things to change yet are still complaining'. My issue with all this is not only that Andrew was the one to make the statement, and frame it the way he did (including speaking for His Majesty), but also that these changes aren't changes. Not really. Yes, people can explain the semantics of titles and abeyance and wherever else, but what is clear to many people is that nothing more will be, or can be, done. That the 'status' the gave him the opportunity to carry out these immoral (and possibly criminal) decisions and actions cannot be taken away. He was born a prince, born with a place in the LoS, and that will remain. He has status afforded to him that cannot be removed. The rest is just shuffling words around in press releases and conflicting headlines. And because of the very public actions of the Californian celebrities, we know how meaningless it is. 🤷🏻‍♀️ so we're told nothing more can be done.
