An incredible strength in what it does to protect the freedoms and rights of its people. Oh, there's great strength in that. And it is very fragile. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it. And so that's the moment we're in. And I say do not despair because in a democracy, as long as we can keep it, in our democracy the people, every individual has the power to make a decision about what this will be. And so let's not feel powerless. Because then we have been defeated. And that's not our character as the American people. We are not one to be defeated. We rise to a moment and we stand on broad shoulders of people who have fought this fight before for our country. And in many ways let us look at the challenge then that we are being presented and not be overwhelmed by it. The baton is now in our hands, to fight for, not against, but for this country we love.

Leadership climate is set at the top. So, when President Trump calls for me to be killed and hanged, many people take that as license to call my office and say even worse. But what has been so heartening is that even more called in with positive feedback and encouragement. There are many here in Washington who want us to think that America is hopelessly divided. I refuse to accept that. There is more that unites us than divides us, any day of the week. And we can’t be intimidated out of advocating for the country we all love.

And this week, we watched as the President of the United States hosted a UFC fight in front of the White House where the winning fighter spewed the vile lie that First Lady Michelle Obama is a man. This is not the country I want my daughter to grow up in. There is so much on the line. And it’s up to all of us to fight the right fight.

David Eby: The idea that you can simultaneously attack Canadians and also benefit from what's in Canada, which the rest of the world also wants, is an absurd one. It makes no sense. And it is reflective of this administration's entire approach to their relationship with Canada. They want to have all the benefits of a relationship with Canada, but they also want to punish Canadian workers to bully us, to tell us who we can trade with. It is the definition of an abusive relationship.
