Jason Kidd says MJ was the best player he ever played against. “My first time guarding him, I was a little nervous, so he came up to me and says, ‘Don’t worry about it kid, I like you so I won’t embarrass you tonight’ — He had 35, so it was just a light embarrassment”

Blake Griffin talks about going up against his hero, Tim Duncan, for the first time: "We're playing San Antonio in a pre-season game. It's my first pre-season game and we're in San Antonio and I'm doing the court warm-up early.. and I'm like going through stuff and I turn and I look at the other end, and it's Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan is warming up.. He is the sweetest person ever. You have to understand, since I was 9 years old I've been watching him. He's like warming up and I turned and I literally just stop, and like watched him for a second and my coach was like 'Yo' and I was like 'Oh, yep'. And it hit me in that moment that I was like 'Holy Shit, I'm about to play against Tim Duncan'." #GoSpursGo #PorVida

Nicolas Batum says he’s never seen Kawhi Leonard play this well in their 6 years together. "I’ve been with him for six years. I joined the Clippers in 2020 and like I said, I’ve never seen him that good. I played against him when he was with the Spurs, I played against him in Toronto, and I’ve played with him for six years now, but he was already great. We all know the resume of Kawhi Leonard, but I think this year—I don't know why—he just is in total control. He’s in control of everything. It’s weird to say because he’s always been in control, but I don't really know what he changed. His routine has been the same, he’s just a maniac of working. He’s always in the gym, working before and after practice, before and after games. The way he plays right now is just unbelievable." (Via TheOldManAndTheThree )

Steve Kerr on Tim Duncan’s leadership: “Tim was an amazing teammate because he was so dominant. He was such a great player but he took everything on his shoulders. And I remember we had a game one time where we lost the game, it was a close game, and he comes into the locker room, he’s like: ‘Guys that’s my fault man, it’s my fault I got to be better.’ And he had like 39 points and 18 rebounds, you know I’m looking at the stat sheet like ‘Tim you know you played pretty well..’ 😹 So guys like that who take on that burden of the teams success and are willing to take the blame even when everybody knows how good they are.. that’s powerful leadership.” #GoSpursGo #PorVida

"NO WAY, WAS IT?!" | James Wade was SHOCKED that he averaged nearly a ton against Ryan Searle "Was it really? No way, was it? Oh I played alright then. Oh no I thought I was averaging 90, 91. That's the first I've heard of that. "I guess I did enough. I didn't think I played anything like that so yeah I'm really happy. "There's so many shots [where] I had a chance of doing those things and when I hit that one I thought, 'wallop have that' and it was just a nice feeling." #Darts #WorldMatchplay

🐻‍❄️: when i first said i wanted singasong to be our title track, they were against it. but i played it for the8 and expressed my thoughts and he accepted my reasoning so we pushed against the company together. minghao mentioned that vernon was so confident about singasong and he has always trusted him so he felt like vernon should just do whatever he wanted because he would always cheer him on. 🥹

Shaq says Michael Jordan is the GOAT because he never lost in the Finals 🐐 "Mike is the greatest of all time because of how he played, how he dominated, and he never lost in the finals. So, I know a lot of people going to see this like you said and 'oh, he doing this and he do that.' I played with Kobe, I know what a killer he was, but to me as a kid and going against him, then being the only guy to beat him in the playoffs for him to retire after three and then come back and get three, yeah, he was a different animal." Selena Gomez reveals how Benny Blanco proposed to her. “I thought we had a shoot that day, so I had hair and makeup done, and I was just going about my regular day. I got into the car, and I was thinking to myself, ‘Where are we going?’ Because at that point, I felt like I knew all the studios I usually go to” “It was just me and my security guard, and he was laughing because he was just like, ‘I don’t know. It’s a new space’” “We got out. I walked in, and all of a sudden, I saw no one in the room. I looked at my assistant, and she just shut the door. And I was like, ‘Uhhh…’” “I think you envision all the things you would do and say when someone proposes to you. But it is actually the craziest feeling. It was really special” “He said the sweetest things, but I was so shocked that it just felt unreal for a long time. I’ve always dreamed of that moment, and he couldn’t have made it more perfect. It was one of the best days of my life, for sure”

Stephen Jackson on Tim Duncan: “As a player, I was honored to follow him because the type of guy when I came in, I’m the type that everybody stray away from. You know what I’m saying? I curse, I’m loud, I’m ghetto, you know what I’m saying? But he embraced it.. Like if you see in the games, all the big games.. he bringing a double team and throwing it to me, and so the fact that you got probably the best power forward of all time believing in you like that, that shit meant the world to me. And that’s why I forever love TD because for him to embrace me, that gave me a level of confidence that I didn’t thought I had.. And like to this day, like he called me the ultimate teammate.. For Tim Duncan to say that about me, that mean the world dog.” #GoSpursGo #PorVida

#JAYB talked about running into #JINYOUNG while he's on a run 🌴 our eyes met. so then… but… it was like i had seen him somewhere a lot… i mean, i only saw his eyes because he was wearing a mask, but just from the eyes it felt like someone i had seen seen a lot. so i was like… “what? ah, who is that… i’ve seen this person so many times somewhere.” he felt so familiar. he was so familiar that i was like, “what is this?” and i turned around. and when i looked at the way he walked, it felt even more familiar. i had my earphones in, but i took them out and called, “park-ssi!” but he didn’t respond. so then i thought, “ah, is it not him?” but just in case, i called him on my phone and asked, “where are you?” and jinyoung said, “was that you just now? was that you, hyung? hyung, right? the one in the red running shoes, that’s you, right?” so i said, “oh, it is you, right?” and we realized it was each other. so i turned around, ran back, talked to him for a bit, then i went back to running and jinyoung went on his way. seriously, i’m not lying. it was like a movie, our eyes just met like this. i’d seen those eyes so many times. so i was like, “what? where have i seen those?” then when i called out “park-ssi!” he didn’t hear me. so i called him, and right away, as soon as he picked up, not even “hyung, what’s up?” but right as he answered, “it’s you, right?” we must have been thinking the exact same thing

Bomani Jones believes David Robinson was a better and more skilled player than Tim Duncan, but lacked the killer instinct that Tim had: “The thing with Robinson was he was absolutely not a killer.. that’s just not the kind of guy he was. He’s a very nice guy who was really good at basketball.. It’s the difference between Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Because if you were to ask me which of them in some total was a better basketball player, I would tell you David Robinson.. In a late regular season game in 1988, Karl Malone elbowed David Robinson and gave him a concussion.. Tim Duncan was furious and put 38 on him and it was an angry 38. And it’s what we’re talking about you didn’t really see from David Robinson. That’s where the difference is, and that difference is the part that matters probably more than the skill part.” #GoSpursGo #PorVida

Kayla McBride on her “I’m going to be so open” comments to Cheryl Reeve after Olivia Miles was drafted “The last time I played with a true point guard it was Courtney Vandersloot and it was some of the best, most fun basketball I played. It’s not that I haven’t had amazing moments with Court, but it’s just something about playing with a true PG, that’s just, you know you get that ball with the laces and that velocity, it’s just like oh, kid in a candy story truly”

Shane Battier on why Kobe Bryant was the hardest player he ever had to guard: “Because there were guys that were faster and stronger and could, you know, fly and more talented than me, but I thought I was smarter than every player I played against except Kobe. Kobe was the one guy was mentally a guy I couldn’t wear down mentally or break. And so I had played Kobe I don’t know 40 times in my career. And he was a month older than me. His mentality was like unlike anybody I played against, right? If Kobe had 20, he wanted 30. If he had 30, he wanted 40. If he had 40, he wanted 50. If he had 50, he wanted 60. It was non-stop. So I just remember just like, you know, sitting in Marina Delray Ritz going to the Staple Centers. I’m just thinking to myself, “Oh sh*t man. I got this guy tonight. I got this monster. The anxiety was real. It was real. Kobe did a really funny thing with me. Like we played this game with each other that only knew we were playing. And one day he’d be super friendly to me. Hey Shane, what’s going on man? How’s the Family? How you doing? Playing great. Next day, man, stone cold assassin. He wouldn’t even look at me. Wouldn’t even look at me. You know, I fall, he’d step over me. Do all that bullsh*t right? Next game, hey man, what’s going on? So he was always trying to like play this psychological warfare.” (Via Hoopin' N Hollerin’)
