Lindor is 32 and will make $32 million per year through the 2031 season. That's a boatload of money, and this would likely be a salary dump. The only thing that makes me think the Yankees would even have a shot is that the few teams that might conceivably take on that salary are in the NL—no shot they send him to the Dodgers or Phillies. The Padres probably don't want another bloated contract either. The Yankees are the team that can afford him, even if Hal wants you to think his team is a mom-and-pop shop. More important than that, though, he'd be out of the National League.
