David Stearns was asked if he would've handled the Pete Alonso situation differently: "The truth is in this job, I don't get mulligans. I also recognize Pete had a tremendous year and the totality of our first base production wasn't good enough"

@SNYtv You’re goofy ass is crazy for even thinking you were going to pick up another first baseman who was going to perform like Pete Alonso when he’s at the plate.

Letting Pete go b/c you didn’t think he was worth 5 years, & him going on to have consistently career seasons for the next at least 3-4 yrs will be your legacy. You & your nerd cronies made that decision, & now we are stuck w/the repercussions, & you’re talking about mulligans 🤦🏻‍♀️

At least he owns it. Pete's got 30-homer power every year — he's not going anywhere.

@SNYtv Disgusted! Let a homegrown player leave inexcusable. Heart was in it and you let him go. You can make excuses until the cows come home. Worse than letting Tom Seaver go

I wonder if anyone asked him how he feels about his old team the Milwaukee Brewers having the best record in MLB. If he was that good, the owners would have bent over backwards to retain him, but instead they chose to let him walk out the door. Now that speaks volumes!

Just say "I screwed that up, and I should have offered Pete a contract that meant he would still be here." At least I could respect that.

Didn’t address the fans wants too. Pete should have been a life long Met.

@SNYtv How do you just allow one of the most prolific power hitters in the clubs history walk ??..and you have one of or the richest owner in baseball that could just write the check ??..There has to be some other reason??...other than an actuary table ??

Look at him shaking his head "no" when he says "I also recognize Pete had a tremendous year." You can almost see him thinking: "Yeah, so what? My formulas still say he'll be a bad investment a few years from now." I don't think that core belief has changed at all in him.

@SNYtv Actually, the fact you haven’t been fired already is your mulligan and it forced Cohen to hire another POB to be your caddy so you don’t continue to miss the fairway. Make it make sense.

@SNYtv What a jerkoff. I don’t expect a mulligan when I use my putter from the tee box. Paying Pete was the most obvious decision ever. On top of it you completely failed with bringing in aging injury prone talent to replace the guy who 152 games+ every season of his career.

@SNYtv He still thinks he did nothing wrong, that’s the problem. He would happily follow his BS formulas and do it all over again.

@StevenACohen2 is the problem. He sees this guy smiling and refuses to fire him.

“Obviously, in hindsight, not signing Pete was a mistake on our part”. That’s all I want to hear out of him. Transparent. Honest. No run around, no excuse.

Wasn’t Alonso given atleast 2-3 contract offers and he refused them? Also where are the Orioles? That’s right headed to Cancun with us. Get over this guy already and let’s just hope for better next season. This same sad song, staying angry BS is tiring.

BREAKING: Pete Hegseth's mother Penelope sets the record straight about her son after a private email of hers was published, which she immediately regretted sending and apologized for it years ago. She says the media "THREATENED" her before publishing her email. Woah. She also denied any idea he "misuses" women. "I came to take on the New York Times. I don't think the way you operate - it feels almost criminal. When reporters call you and threaten you. They are in it for the commission, the money - they don't care who they hurt." It's worth watching this entire interview. This whole segment with his mother is such a green flag for Pete. "I am here to tell the truth - to the American people and to the senators on the Hill. Especially our female senators - I really hope you will not listen to the media, and you will listen to Pete." "I want people to look at Pete [for] who he is today, and to disregard the media. That was 7 years ago, and most of it is misinformation. And the way they threaten you - is very hurtful." "Pete is a new person. He is redeemed, forgiven, changed. We all are after 7 years. I believe he's the man for a job." "Pete is a good father, a good husband, he's got 7 kids. He's a wonderful son [...] He's a changed man, and I just hope that people will get to know who Pete is today - especially our dear female senators. Listen to him, listen with your heart." "I wouldn't be sitting here if I didn't believe he is the man for the job." "[The scrutiny against our family] is hard [...] But, we've been through a lot as a family, and our faith has assured us that greater is He that is in us." "I think the senators need to listen." She adds in conclusion: "He's got a big heart. He's smart. He's the most faithful patriot of this country." "I believe he's the man for such a time as this."
