Probably one of the hardest drawings I’ve ever done. And honestly, most of what you’re looking at right now doesn’t even matter yet. It’ll all change. This part is just about getting the foundation right. And at this point, none of the crazy stuff is even in yet. Scroll through the images to see the early progress. No crowd. Not much detail. So where I could only find one case in the last 120 years. Have you met baby Wamata? Wamata is a 2-year-old little girl who is part elephant and part silly goose. She was rescued by my friends at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust a year ago, when she was found alone in the bush without her mom or her herd. Now, she is living at the Sheldrick Trust nursery in Nairobi and is surrounded by other orphans who understand the pain and trauma that comes with losing their family. They support each other in life. At the nursery, Wamata will learn how to be an elephant from the older orphans, but also from her human keepers, who watch over her 24/7 and, for the younger babies, sleep next to them every night so they can be bottle fed and comforted when they wake up in the middle of the night. By the time she is between the ages of 8–10, Wamata, like all Sheldrick orphans, will make her way out into the wild — which is her birthright. She will have her own babies in the wild, and if history is any guide, she will do what many former Sheldrick Trust orphans have done and return to introduce her wild-born babies to the men who helped to raise her. Happy Final Space Friday! So I'm patiently waiting for notes and feedback from the test readers I sent out, they should come in next week. I gave everyone a week to digest it. Once I have those notes I'll have a good idea if we need to ink/ letter anything new or fix anything but for the most part all polish is pretty much done. Daz Tibbles for NOW has moved on to coloring part 8. Joe is still coloring the last pieces to Part 6 after that I'll move him to Part 7. On the soundtrack front, I'm starting to have conversation with the composers on how to best to time the songs based on how long it takes to read certain chapters. And then QR codes and all that fun that I've never done before. The good news the music is sounding awesome and it really does add to the whole experience. I'm also working up the back matter to the novel as well, all the behind the scenes pages in the back of the book. Also getting quotes from the printer for the black and white novels any days now. So lots of progress, I'm hoping the notes and feedback don't break anything too big but I think they will all really enjoy it. Anyways here is a new work in progress from Andrew Andrew Goodwin, I like this for the MASSIVE Part 6 but I gave him the note to tone it down in sections for the emotions part so were playing with how to make the music really stick to the pages with the high and lows. Scoring graphic novel pages is a new thing for us haha -Olan PRE-ORDER:

The people that have a problem with Drake not “maturing” don’t realize that by continuing to connect with younger audiences, he’s extending his relevance in a way that almost no artist in history has done. That’s not immaturity, that’s longevity. That’s good business. Most artists age out of cultural relevance because they stop speaking the language of younger consumers. Drake figured out how to evolve without completely abandoning the audience that keeps music moving in real time. And whether people like it or not, that strategy has kept him at the top for over 15 years. Also it’s unfair to place this massive cultural responsibility on one artist while giving everybody else a pass. We don’t demand every rapper become a political leader, social activist, therapist, and moral compass all at once. Somehow Drake is expected to carry standards that nobody else is held to. At the end of the day, music is still entertainment, and maintaining relevance across generations is one of the hardest things to do in the business. What Drake has accomplished is unprecedented, whether people personally like the music or not. 🤷🏾‍♂️😐
