☕️Good morning from SMHQ, and we kick off this week with one for the record books captured during last nights stormy weather on the south coast... A 19 coach GWR #IET 😲 🌧️The terrible weather stranded #Class802 802108 (1C82) at #Dawlish for close to 2 hours, before being rescued by a pair of #Class800, combined giving us a 19 coach train from #Dawlish to #NewtonAbbot, where the service was terminated. 🌅Better weather greets us this morning at #Dawlish, which can be viewed via our friends at Coast Cams 🗒️Today's notable moves - Have a great day👋

🗓️It's been 10 years since a storm washed away the railway at Dawlish 🛠️Since then, we've been working to improve resilience in the area, with a new sea wall and cliff protection 📽️Watch to find out how we did it

Heavy rain and strong winds have hit the UK with weather warnings, flooding and travel disruption caused by Storm Chandra. Sections of several roads in Dorset, Somerset and east Devon are closed due to flooding and on #BBCBreakfast Johnny Rutherford is in Dawlish where recent storms have already caused disruption

Just been through Dawlish on my train to London. The railway is reopen. Thank you to the teams from Network Rail, GWR and CrossCountry for their work to prepare for and recover from Storm Ingrid. Reinforces the need for a new long term plan for the railway in the far south west

We're sorry for the impact that flooding caused by Storm Chandra is having on our customers. Following Storm Ingrid, a large sink hole has appeared between Dawlish and Teignmouth and this will need to be filled. The railway line between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbott will therefore need to be closed between 19:00 on Wednesday 28 January and 07:00 on Thursday 29th January, to allow this work to take place. Online journey planners are being updated to reflect the changes and customers should check carefully at before they travel. For more information please visit

💬: jeonghan dreamed of becoming a teacher when he was young. what did teaching mean to you during your military service? is there a memorable experience you’d like to share? 👼🏻: i worked as an assistant teacher at a specialized school for students with disabilities, and while i was working there, i kept thinking that i was really glad i had ended up at this place of service rather than being assigned somewhere else 👼🏻: at first, there were parts that were difficult because i couldn’t adjust, but as i gradually got used to it and continued helping the children by their side, i grew attached to them, and i also felt a sense of fulfillment. i also felt that being able to spend that period being addressed as ‘teacher’ was really meaningful 👼🏻: usually, when you go to work in the morning, you’re so tired, right? but some of the children would greet me, saying, ‘hello, teacher jeonghan~,’ and somehow… in that moment, i felt really rewarded, and i naturally found myself smiling. i think i especially remember those children who would greet me so warmly in the morning this is so heartwarming 🥺

💖An Adoption story: 💖 "Last Tuesday, we got a call about a one-day-old baby girl in the NICU. We had 30 minutes to say yes, and we did. We went to bed thinking they'd probably choose someone else. The next morning, we woke up to a phone call: They chose us. An hour later, we were packed and on our way to the airport. After a 10-hour travel day, we made it. We were about to meet our daughter. Meet Haven Nevaeh Lawson. We named her Haven because that's our prayer, that her life would be filled with safety, peace, and protection. That she'd always know she can find security not just in our arms, but in the arms of God. That’s the name her birth mama gave her. We kept it to honor her bravery and the beautiful decision she made to choose life. Nevaeh is "heaven" spelled backward. So her full name carries this hope: Safe in God's presence, forever. We've spent the last 9 days by her side in the NICU. It's been hard, physically and emotionally, but even in the middle of the unknown, we've seen God's hand, His timing, and His kindness. 🙏 Would you pray for our baby girl Haven? Pray that she'll be healthy enough to come home soon, home to the family & friends that are so ready to surround her with love. Adoption is joy and heartbreak tangled together. But in the middle of it all, we're overwhelmed with gratitude. She is worth every moment." 🫶💕
