Two homers for Jefferson Rojas tonight. This one left the bat at 110 MPH. OPS at Double-A is up to .889 with 13 homers in 60 games. Reminder he was still 20 years old on Opening Day. Simple swing, easy bat speed and a good feel to drive the ball in the air.

LeBron James was the first player in the arena at 7:45 AM and looked good in his on-court work. His left foot arthritis, something he’s dealt with on and off, didn’t respond to treatment after the workout and ultimately James was ruled out, I’m told. He is day-to-day.

I remember stumbling on Chez Reavie on his 17th hole at Kiawah, when he was 5 over and about to miss the cut. He missed his ball almost 35 yards left of the green. Super short sided, in the waste area. Lie awful (in a footprint?). Bunker short, water long. Wind hard left-to-right. Hit it to 7 feet and made the putt. Gained a 0.47 shots on paper. Still think about it.

Day 8 notes - - Tuli Tuipulotu was a full participant in practice for the second day in a row and blew up an Omarion Hampton run on one of his first reps. -Branson Taylor took all the reps at left guard with the group blocking for a Justin Herbert. - First OL-DL one-on-ones of camp: didn’t see all of these but Akheem Mesidor flashed in the ones I did and Jake Slaughter looked solid - Bud Dupree recorded what would’ve been a sack on a rush against Travis Burke during team drills - Justin Eboigbe continued his strong camp, consistently generating interior pressure. - Genesis Smith intercepted Justin Herbert after a pass went through Charlie Kolar’s hands. - Keaton Mitchell fumbled during 11-on-11, with rookie Nick Barrett** recovering. - Donte Jackson had an impressive diving pass breakup during 7-on-7 that led to an Elijah Molden interception of Trey Lance. - Derius Davis beat the defense deep on a pass from Herbert but couldn’t survive the ground after making the catch. - The offensive line consistently created running lanes throughout practice. Overall: Closest thing to real football we’ve seen in camp so far. The Chargers held their first live period (with the third group) where tackling to the ground was allowed.
