🎥: Omaha Fire was called to 123rd and Gold Street for a house fire. Crews had heavy smoke on approach and a working fire was declared. Crews had the fire under control after 20 minutes. No serious injuries were reported. At least one cat was found deceased and crews were working on resuscitating a second cat. Medics checked on a passerby but the person was not transported from the scene and was reported to have minor injuries.

We’ve spent the past week disconnecting illegal electricity connections in Pretoria West. We found this property where an illegal construction of dozens of residential rooms is underway. This building isn’t approved by the city for commercial use and is designated for single household occupancy. The man responsible for this project has previously been flagged by the municipality. An unsafe building he built on the adjacent property was demolished after the city secured a court order. Our building inspectors will yet again have to fine him and stop any further construction. The developers has refused to listen to the plea of neighbors who have suffered significant risk and near misses and damage to their property in which they live due to the careless manner in which the developers are going about the work without any barricade to protect neighboring properties and lives in flagrant violation to the laws of Lagos state regulating property development. We have had heavy items falling into our compound and damaging buildings and in two instances could have killed or severely injured persons who were in the vicinity when the heavy items fell. In one instance the window of the bathroom of one building was shattered and if someone had been inside, would have been severely injured. In another instance a very heavy concrete cylindrical block fell damaging property and almost killing a maid in the vicinity. Something needs to be done very urgently to arrest the situation, stop the building project until they do the right thing. We reported to LASPPPA but no action was taken.
