@Synod_va How many women are participating? The same number as men? As the graduate of a Jesuit college, I am sorely disappointed in the Catholic church. I abandoned Christianity and Catholicism 45 years ago. For me, the Catholic church is an exclusive club of white and bitter old men.

Friends, as we resume Ordinary Time, it’s appropriate that we’re looking at a portrait of the Church, because we’re coming back, if you want, to the ordinary work of the Church up and down the ages to the present day. Our Gospel from the tenth chapter of Luke gives us our marching orders—from going on mission together and staying rooted in prayer, to trusting in providence and supporting the work of the Church, to curing the sick and proclaiming the kingdom of God.

I have arrived in Cameroon. I come as pastor and shepherd to be alongside the Anglican faithful, and assure them they are not forgotten. I bring with me the prayers of our global Anglican family. I look forward to being alongside our beloved brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Cameroon - to accompany them, encourage them, and hear about their lives in this land. “In a time of terrible conflicts around the world, and so much suffering here in Cameroon, I come with the message of the Gospel. Susan and I have spent the day with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other community members who were involved in the tragic shooting episode that took place in Michigan on Sunday. The devotion of these faithful members makes me want to be more devoted, and the faithfulness of these good people makes me want to be more faithful. They have the capacity—because of the eternal perspective of the gospel of Jesus Christ—to learn lessons in tragedy in mortality that prepare them for eternal life. We are familiar with the admonition that we should mourn with those that mourn. There are broken hearts here in Michigan. My invitation to any and all is to continue to pray for these good people.

Today we visited Ste Thérèse on the outskirts of Yaoundé. In this rural parish, the Church is living out the Gospel in practical ways. Through agricultural initiatives and community projects, the Church is helping people make the most of the resources around them - creating opportunities for families and helping the village to flourish. It was wonderful to spend some time with the community, and pray together for God’s blessing on this land.

My dear friends, I invite you to commit yourself more fully to the Savior, His gospel, and His Church. As you do so, you will find that the combination of the Savior’s gospel and His Church brings power into your life. This power is far greater than dynamite. It will shatter the rocks in your way and transform you into an inheritor in God’s kingdom. You will be “filled with that joy which is unspeakable and full of glory” (Helaman 5:44).

My dear friends, I invite you to commit yourself more fully to the Savior, His gospel, and His Church. Friends, Today is Palm Sunday, the day our Lord Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem, fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. May you feel the love, joy, and peace of God as you meditate on the Lord and all He has done for us, His children. Let us pray for our leaders, for the people of our country and around the world, that hearts would turn toward God. Pray that the evil in this world would be eradicated, and that the goodness and faithfulness of our God would shine brightly through our lives—so we may be a light in the darkness. And don’t forget to invite your friends and family to church! ✝️

🫂🕊It was another horrific night, my friends, but I was very pleased to once again see the light of the dawn. The army was in our area, with flares above our homes to help them see through the night. I thought it would truly be our end, my dear friends. Thankfully, praise be to God, they have moved away a little this morning, and I feel a little more able to breathe. Still, the situation in 💔🇵🇸😢#Gaza is terrifying, and death faces us in every direction. We must urgently prepare for any eventuality, so that we can hope to have a chance of survival. Since it is slightly less dangerous, I hope to go and purchase supplies, and hopefully stock up on food for the animals. The future is very uncertain, and I don't know when I'll be able to buy any again. I'm sorry to ask you again and again, my friends, but if you could help us, I would be so grateful. I also wanted to tell you that our dear friend Aboud was taken to the hospital yesterday, with severe stomach pain. I ask you to pray for him, my friends. Everything here is terrible, and severe stress is affecting us all. You are truly the light of hope that gets us through each of these terrible days.
