Why is the SAVE America Act even controversial? Only American citizens should vote in American elections. That shouldn’t be a partisan statement. It should be COMMON SENSE. The SAVE America Act is about one thing: protecting the integrity of our elections. In Texas alone, thousands of non-citizens have been removed from voter rolls. In close elections, that can absolutely matter. Every illegal vote cancels out the vote of a legal citizen. And spare me the argument that requiring ID is somehow discriminatory. I’m Black. I’m a veteran. I have 6 forms of government-issued ID. The idea that Black and Hispanic Americans are somehow incapable of obtaining an ID is one of the most insulting forms of political condescension in modern politics.
