I am sharing with you this paper that has recently been published looking at oestrogen-only HRT and breast cancer incidence. The paper is a meta-analysis, which is a type of statistical analysis where researchers review, combine, and analyse multiple studies together. In this paper, researchers have looked at randomised studies involving oestrogen and breast cancer incidence and put them together to see what the results show. The conclusion is clear: women who take oestrogen-only HRT have a LOWER future risk of developing breast cancer. We’ve known for several years that women who take oestrogen have a lower future incidence of breast cancer as well as other cancers and other conditions. This paper is very reassuring, and it’s worth remembering that any risk of breast cancer has been shown using oestrogen with a combination of a synthetic progestogen, not the body-identical type progesterone healthcare professionals usually prescribe.
