Someone slept through 4th grade. A desert is defined by a near total lack of precipitation, not its temperature or what covers the ground. Antarctica is covered in frozen water (snow & ice) but it almost never rains or snows, so it is technically a desert.

snow desert, i assume, means drinking the snow will lower your body temperature and will kill you down there so you cant actually use it to drink.

It is a desert because the area lacks precipitation. I heard this when I was a kid. The area is very dry because of how cold it is…this prevents snow from melting and prevents moisture from cycling through the air. That is why it qualifies as a desert. I think they say any area that receives less than 25 cm of precipitation per year. The temperature is irrelevant but many assume it must be hot because almost all deserts are sandy and hot.

Stay in school... its a tundra biome, which means frozen desert!! Different from the sandy hot desert. The soil is permanently frozen so nothing living can grow out of it. Desert!
