Today，the World Coastal Forum 2025 Conference officially opened in Yancheng, China! 300 delegates from 36 countries and regions gathered in Yancheng to jointly discuss, build, and share the ecological protection and sustainable development of global coastal regions. The report State of the World’s Coastal Ecosystems was released at the opening ceremony, for the first time the report provides a systematic assessment of the distribution, changes, and key drivers of 13 types of coastal ecosystems worldwide，and provides priority recommendations for action. With the addition of new partners, the World Coastal Forum 2025 Conference partners has increased from the initial 15 to 25, further expanding its "international circle" and broadening the cooperation network. Centered on the theme “Beautiful Coasts: Ecological Priority, Green Development.”，Yancheng has shared its local practices at the opening ceremony and extended an invitation to the world — to join hands in protecting coastal ecosystems, advancing green and low-carbon development, and deepening international exchange and cooperation.

In 1986, 39 milu deer, also known as Père David's deer, traveled from the United Kingdom to Dafeng Milu National Nature Reserve in Yancheng, marking the culmination of a nearly century-long journey home. Forty years on, this wetland is now home to more than 8,800 milu deer, accounting for nearly 70 percent of the global total. The area has not only become the world's largest milu deer nature reserve, but also boasts the world's largest wild milu deer population and gene bank for the species. From 39 to over 8,800 deer, this growth represents not only an achievement in China's ecological conservation efforts, but also a vivid example of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
