Almost completely agree except that trigonometry is needed to understand what happens when you pull the trigger.

I get it - and don't disagree. But when you pull out your smartphone, drive your car, turn on your TV, or even cook your dinner - it was higher mathematics that made those things possible.

Once you realize the goal of public schools is to create mindless worker bees and yes men, you understand why the curriculum is what it is. They aren't going to teach how to be free from their hold on you. Take back control of your children's education.

Also if you understand both algebra and calculus then you have the tools to do everything he stated. From investments to accounting. Where do you think that stuff is taught. People do t understand math they just do what they are told to get through it.

We need to teach our kids basic financial literacy. A class on personal economics, tracking and projecting income & expenses and balancing a budget. Then another on the basics of debt, investment and compounding interest. It's a travesty that public schools don't teach this.

Gen Xer here. At the high school I mostly attended, the "slowkid" math class taught how to do your taxes and making a basic budget. Every one of us asked the same question " why isn't EVERYBODY being taught this?". Still find it funny only us burnouts were taught the essentials.
