The athlete who won this race is Kip Keino. Kip Keino is a Kenyan retired athlete who is one of the most well-known figures in the history of distance running. He won several Olympic medals, including gold in the 1500 meters at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and gold in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the 1972 Munich Olympics. One of the coolest things about Kip Keino is that he overcame significant odds to achieve his success. In the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, Keino was suffering from gallstones but still managed to defeat American favorite Jim Ryun in the 1500 meters. He won by a stunning 20 meters, a significant margin in middle-distance running. Even more astonishingly, doctors had advised him not to compete due to his condition. His perseverance and determination have made him a symbol of athletic grit and an inspiration for many.

Strange to see that. Great running to everyone who didn’t pretend health problems for their loss!

Now we see why they were always jealous of us. We've always been better at them at everything.

Kip Keino now. He’s 83 and ministers to orphans in Kenya. Truly a hero and legend.

I hear the bias in the newsreel.. but let's not pretend like Altitude does not matter in athletic performance. Kenya's altitude is directly connected to the dominance of Kenyan distance runners.. that's just a fact.
