VIDEO: How we used religion to give Tinubu victory – El-Rufai The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he and some northern governors used religion as a political tool to give victory to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. The former governor stated this in a viral video. He was speaking to an audience in the Hausa language in Kaduna at an event before handing over to his successor. We only do it in order to have solutions to the current religious problem we are having in Nigeria and for us to give South West Muslims a sense of belonging to rule. Even as Baloch insurgents release fresh video footage of captured Pakistani soldiers crying on camera and pleading with their own leadership to acknowledge them, Rawalpindi continues to maintain its now familiar silence. The men in the video are not just begging for rescue. They are asking a far more damning question: why were they inducted into a force that will not even admit they belong to it once they are captured? This is how Rawalpindi has always worked. It has long perfected the art of using its own personnel as expendable instruments of deniable warfare, and the moment these men are caught or killed, the institution simply disowns them to protect its narrative. The same happened during the Kargil War when Pakistan refused to take back the bodies of its fallen soldiers because accepting them would have meant admitting that it had once again waged war on India despite written assurances under the Lahore Declaration, which it violated within weeks. It then fell upon the Indian Army to conduct funerals for Pakistani soldiers abandoned by their own command. Anyone in Pakistan contemplating enlistment into a force so rogue, so unreliable, and so willing to abandon its own should think not twice, but a thousand times before signing away their life to an institution that will refuse to even acknowledge their existence when it matters most.

The antisemitism that was festering under the surface for decades, has exploded. And for those of us who stand against it, we are not the popular kids. The so called “cool kids” are wearing a keffiyeh, calling for an intifada and demanding a Palestine between the river and the sea even if they can’t tell you which river or which sea. Keffiyeh Karens. That’s the mainstream now. Standing up against jihadism is now the counter-culture. Standing up for western democratic values against terror and extremism: that is now the counter-culture. Using facts and reason and knowing history: that is now the counter-culture. People! WE are the counterculture. And we are doing it. The Jewish people have found our voice because standing up for what we believe in, even when it’s not popular, is part of who we are. Our tiny people haven’t survived for millennia and outlived every empire that tried to destroy us by always being the cool kids. In fact, we almost never are. We know when it’s time to swim against the tide because we know this playbook. We have been here before. And our message to the world is as follows: the hatred that targets is targeting you too.
