If it's real, which I'm assuming he confirmed before paying out, then he's paying comfortably below what he could get for it from a refinery so it really doesn't matter whether or not the customer returns. The shop makes money after the loan period, regardless of whether or not the loan is repaid, because the collateral is more than the loan. Also, any item of that value is going to be entered into their local pawn broker system, which will automatically notify LE of exactly what was pawned in case it was reported stolen. Shop has all the customer's info, and he gets arrested. It's a pretty airtight process.

I wonder who they murdered for that chain.

Not a bad price for the gold. Considering the price per gram is $146.43 as of this post. I know the shop has to make money off of it. That chain is worth $29,101.74 with the karat bring 14k and only having 58.3% gold in it.

Those thinking the chains are stolen don’t know how pawnshops work. The shops that stay in business - all follow strict verification procedures. Just not shown in the vid.

so the dude's asked how much he's looking for, without hesitation he says 29, and without hesitation the pawn broker offers him a whopping 93% of his asking price? just like that? what kind of pawn shop is this?

Lender is hoping they don’t pay. Probably 25-50% LTV ratio with 30% APR on the loan. If they never pay, he makes a fortune on melt value.

A black man can’t sell his gold in peace without them thinking he stole it💔💔💔

Gold is an asset. You can borrow against its value the same way you can borrow against yours stocks or your home. You can keep it in gold bars, gold coins or gold chains doesn’t matter gold is gold

He can sell that for $40k at minimum. $27k was fair for the risk he’s taking. Good business owner.

He told them the approximate amount and walks out wearing chains around his neck…. Finger printed and signed… (I’m guessing you’d have given your ID as well)

He asked for a loan meaning they plan on coming backs if not he could’ve just sold the jewelry, he would’ve gotten more for a sale than a loan. Unless the place is banking on them returning. Based on the jewelry there, I doubt they care if they come back or not
