Shedeur Sanders is a Top QB in this draft, a difference maker and a LEADER. What Deion Sanders accomplished together with his Sons should be APPLAUDED not picked apart and used against them. They went to Jackson State together and turned that program around. They went to Colorado together and turned that program around. Deion didn’t do it with kid gloves on either. When Sheduer needed to play better, he voiced it for the team to see and hear. When Shilo played bad and Deion was asked about it, he called it out in front of the world and guess what? Shilo responded by getting better. Completely changed their season. If you wonder if Shedeur can be coached by anyone other than his Dad, just know that Shedeur Sanders had 6 different offensive coordinators in 4 years of College Football. Not only can he be coached by someone else, he showed growth and development EVERY YEAR he played despite having a new system and new play caller. If you are trying to diminish what these young men have accomplished. Stop it. If you are trying to question if they can be coached, stop it. Their father helped put them in position to be successful and they have had NFL coaching since they were 8 years old. They are tough. They have been coached hard. They have earned it. Isn’t what Deion Sanders did for his kids exactly what a father is supposed to? So why are people hating on it? They shouldn’t. But win, lose or draw, no one has captivated college football like Coach Prime, Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and Colorado. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter both made plays against Baylor when their team and Coach needed them the most. They made those plays in the biggest moments of the game because prime time players, make prime time plays in prime time moments. Deion Sanders is Prime Time and his influence rubs off on his entire program. A lot of people wondered why Colorado’s fans rushed the field after beating a 2-1 Baylor team. They rushed the field because they know what it was like before Coach Prime and his Louis luggage showed up. There were no season ticket sell outs since 1996. With Deion, season tickets are sold out for the second straight year. School applications are up 20% with a 50.5% increase in Black student applicants. Colorado made $113.2 million from its 2023 home games alone, which led to a 51% increase in revenue through media rights with Coach Prime at the helm. Before Coach Prime, no one searched for a Colorado game. Last year alone Colorado averaged 7.2 Million viewers per game, with 5 games ranked in the 25 most watched college Football games of the year. That trend continues this year as well. Coach Prime turned the worst Power 5 school in the country into one that PEOPLE CARE ABOUT. Win or lose. You watch. Cheering for or against. You watch. However, his biggest accomplishment isn’t making the Colorado Buffaloes relevant again. His biggest accomplishment is empowering the young men in his program to believe in themselves, trust God and rejuvenating an entire city in the face of massive push back against his style. Deion Sanders took 2 HBCU football players in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter and helped coach them into 2 of the best players in the country who are both in the Heisman race. Took multiple HBCU football players and helped coach them into high level Power 5 starters who have NFL futures. You see the thing about Coach Deion Sanders is he is just as misunderstood as he was as a player. With him, you earn what you get and every single player in his program knows that. On a deeper level, watching him coach his son’s is inspirational. What Deion and Lebron have done for their families and their son’s should be celebrated. As fathers they weren’t just there, they were active. They didn’t just have the title of baby daddy, they are fathers. Black Fatherhood has long been mischaracterized as absent and negative. It’s amazing to see Black Fatherhood today on the highest levels be characterized as present and supportive.

When a coach has health complications they are given grace by the media and the public because they are understanding of what they are fighting through. Deion Sanders he’s not been afforded that same empathy at Colorado this year. Despite being diagnosed with cancer, having his bladder removed and having a procedure in the middle of the season to alleviate blood clots, the tear downs of the man and his program have been relentless. The X’s and the O’s have to improve, but we can’t forget the human element of what has happened in Deion Sanders life this year. Coach Prime’s story was never meant to be perfect. It was meant to be powerful. And powerful it has been. With his Son’s not playing at Colorado, Coach Prime could have easily said, I’m done. I’ve had some health issues, Shedeur is in a bad situation in Cleveland, Shilo isn’t on a NFL roster and this just isn’t worth it anymore. But he didn’t because he made a commitment to every kid in his program and their parents that he was dedicated to building them into a complete man on and off the field. So at 3-6. I finished film on Browns vs Titans around 2:30 a.m. this morning, & my first thought after I was done was… COACH PRIME should be so proud of Shedeur Sanders. He’s gone from predraft slander & 5th round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns’ starter for the rest of the year. The film says he has the physical tools, & his behavior proves he’s has the leadership required to lead a franchise. He’s maintained the grace, confidence, & work ethic his father raised him to have.
