Otedola Bridge is trending because a tomato truck almost cru/shed an entire family of 4, forcing Lagosians to call for the bridge’s deliverance. Eyewitnesses described it as thus; The truck failed brake, veered off its lane, hit the Highlander at full speed, pushing it to hit the Venza, sending it airborne. The impact stopped the truck, but squeezed the two vehicles into the barricade. Luckily, all passengers in the car came out unscathed. The bridge has become notorious for freak accidents, from container tipping to tanker exploding to brake failures. Last year a gas tanker exploded after it fell while trying to make a sharp turn on the bridge, lives were lost, properties were destroyed in millions, but the fire mysteriously skipped one RCCG church on the street. About 8 months ago, a family of three was klled when an Audi collided with a truck. In June 2018, one of the deadliest accidents happened on the bridge. A tanker exploded, killing atleast 12 people, destroying properties in millions and scores of vehicles. Just two days before Christmas last month, a loaded tanker lost control and crashed into four vehicles, badly damaging them and leaving two persons critically injured. Same December, a heavy duty container truck flipped and collided with another truck. Luckily it happened at night when the road usage was at its lowest. This story will be updated. May this young man's Soul Rest in Peace. The carnage continues due to unprecedented levels of greed, dereliction of duty, and lack of accountability. The funds are actually there and have been provided over the past decade. The Ministry of Finance Ministry of Finance has released about UGX 100 Billion since 2019 for a Department of Government whose main responsibility and objective should be prevention of road crashes. These funds have been spent on activities with very minimal impact on road safety. This information has been shared with IGG, Office of the Auditor General Uganda, Criminal Investigations Directorate-UPF. How do you explained the death of a young man in a fatal road crash that caused the incineration of the vehicle which he was driving? He must have been driving in one of the best motor vehicles in this country given the wealth of his family. He was driving a motor vehicle which probably had good safety features on a smooth road without pot holes. It is easy to draw conclusions like he was speeding, he was fatigued, he lost control of his motor vehicle, he made errors, e.t.c. Whereas all that may be true, did he deserve to die in such a gruesome way for those errors in judgement? The answer is a BIG NO. The truth is government failed him in so many ways. At the center of modern day road safety management is recognition that errors made by road users (drivers, motorcyclists, cyclist and pedestrians) MUST NOT lead to their demise. Here is a situation he found himself in: Concrete Barriers on a road that encourages high speed. Who has the onus to remove this hazard? Government. I could have perished in the same circumstances a few years back before the completion of the KEE on the way to the Airport. It was a rainy early morning at about 5:00am and I drove through barriers which were made of plastic. So why were these not made of plastic? Was there a provision for lighting on that section? If not, it should have been there. This is what we mean when we say roads should be forgiving. Apart from their design, road sides are the major reference here. The road should have forgiven him for this error if it had plastic reflective barriers. These kind of barriers would have caught his attention and he would have stopped his car instead of killing him. Were the traffic lights functional? Why was there no hazard signage or warning of any sort since there were barriers in middle of the road? This section of the road is built as an expressway and as such encourages speeding especially at any time beyond midnight. There are no traffic calming measures in place yet it is freely used by pedestrians and Boda-Bodaz like any other city road. Roads are supposed to be designed and constructed bearing in mind the activities that take place around them (Land Use). Interventions to control speed must be implemented if there is a high volume of different road users. They would have got his attention and he would not have died. A glaring example of contractors that do not care about road safety is on the section of Kampala-Masaka in the swampy section of Lwera. The Concrete Barriers are there and in places where they are not, there is nothing preventing a motor vehicle falling off into the swamp. Not even a rope. UNTIL THE DAY WHEN THE LEADERSHIP OF THIS COUNTRY ACCEPTS THAT ROAD CRASHES ARE PREVENTABLE AND PARLIAMENT STARTS DEMANDING ACCOUNTABILTY ON ROAD SAFETY, THIS CARNAGE WILL CONTINUE. There is a 50-metre stretch of road in Sector 68, Gurugram, that separates around 400 to 500 families at M3M Marina from the new master road GMDA is building between Sectors 68 and 69. Fifty metres. That is all. And it has been blocked. M3M Marina's original main gate was designed to open onto this stretch. The road that would lead straight to the Sector 68-69 dividing road and from there to the Sohna Highway near Badshapur. That gate has never opened. Not once. For four to five years, every resident of Marina has been using a single secondary gate that exits onto the Aklimpur-Teekli village road. A broken, patchy road through a village. Not a backup route. The only route. Now, after years of court disputes and a stay that was finally lifted in early 2026, HSVP cleared the encroachments on the Sector 68-69 road. Ninety percent of the land is free. GMDA tenders are nearly done. The road that thousands of residents had been waiting for is finally being built. For Marina, this should have meant one thing. The main gate could finally open. Instead, Supertech sent people to the connecting stretch. They physically dug up the road. Residents, including school buses carrying children, were turned away. Everyone pushed back toward the same secondary gate. The same broken village road. The same 700 to 800 metres of extra distance every single day. For 400 to 500 families, the solution was 50 metres away. It was dug up in front of them. I visited Marina yesterday with a client. The frustration on the ground is not dramatic. It is tired. These are families that have been asking for this access for years. They were told the road would come. Now a master road is actually being built right next to them. And they still cannot reach it. Supertech owns that land. Legally, it is within its rights. Nobody is questioning the title here. But sit with the picture for a second. This is the same Supertech that is under NCLT insolvency proceedings. The same builder whose allottees have been protesting outside HRERA, demanding refunds for flats that were supposed to be delivered in 2017. A company that cannot return a single rupee to its own buyers. Cannot finish its own construction. Cannot respond to its own regulatory orders. That company still had the resources and the intent to station people at a road and physically dig it up. A builder that cannot refund its own buyers always has the budget to block someone else's road. They all do. That is one constant across Gurugram real estate that never changes. This is not a one-off story either. On Golf Course Extension Road, there are societies where residents pay a private landowner hefty monthly rent just to use his vacant plot as a road to reach their own homes. Because the planned connectivity was never built. The pattern repeats everywhere. Builders launch, buyers pay, and the last 50 metres of access becomes someone else's problem. Sometimes it becomes the resident's monthly bill. The Sector 68-69 master road is being built. The hope was real. For 500 families, it still is. They are just waiting for someone to care about 50 metres.

The Kurds continue to be betrayed by their allies. 🇮🇶 🇺🇸 🇮🇷 If Lebanon is excluded from the ceasefire in the regional war, so too is northern Iraq. On the 16th of March 2025, Earshot was contacted by activists in Serbia to investigate the potential use of sonic weapons by the government on a crowd of protestors as they were holding a silent vigil for the victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse. Earshot received 12 videos that document the moments where a weapon was allegedly used against the protestors. 4 of these videos contain a sound consistent with the noise produced by a Vortex Ring Gun or Vortex Cannon. As this weapon pushes gas out of its cylinder at speeds of 185mph, its expulsion produces a howling noise which has been compared to a jet engine, along with vortex rings that may be ionized. This would create electromagnetic interference with devices such as hearing aids, corroborating reports made by witnesses at the protest. Should this be the vortex cannon, these recordings would be more than 700m away. At this distance the combustion of the weapon is no longer audible; only the distinct whistling sound of the pressure wave as it travels away from the shooter location and towards the crowd can be heard, causing mass panic. As Earshot is looking to further investigate this incident, we ask anyone with video footage from that night that captures the specific sound that can be heard in this post to get in touch with us.

our concert on Apple Music Live is officially out. i have not toured since my first album. even though i feel like the stage is my second home, i always felt like more of a studio hermit and like i needed to be off the road to become me 🙋🏻‍♀️ when we made C, XOXO, i knew i had to tour this body of work. these songs, these lyrics, these drums, this ENERGY - was MADE to be experienced live. it’s a world of women with bark and bite, of a Miami Spring Breakers fantasy, of BMX bikers, of bravado, of friendship 💘, of an eternal Miami, Dade County summer. 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘 what premiered last night is the first show we ever did in Lisbon, Portugal and it was the first time I’d been on stage in a couple years. We were all so nervous but we left it all out there. not once did these shows ever feel like work. if anything going onstage felt like going to a party and blowing off steam no matter what was going on. i am so grateful to every single person who made this show happen. every character on stage - from every single one of the XOXOGIRLS who form such a crucial part of this energy, to our BMX boys, to our robot dogs, to everyone behind the scenes who poured their creativity, work ethic, and talent to make the show of my dreams. thank you Apple Music for sharing it with everyone who couldn’t be there this summer for our mini festival run. and like i said, i can’t not tour C, XOXO. so…. see the rest of you soon ;)

Attack on Iranian Protesters in Vienna Following Peaceful Demonstration On the evening of 4 March 2026, around 21:30–22:00, Iranian activists held a peaceful demonstration in front of the Imam Ali Center to express their political views and to protest against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The demonstration was officially registered and authorized and took place in the presence of the Austrian police. Throughout the event, participants remained peaceful and exercised their democratic right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. Several attackers were seen concealing knives or sharp objects under their jackets. Members of our organizing and logistics team were physically assaulted. As a result of the attack, approximately eight to nine people were injured, several of them seriously enough to require hospital treatment. Some participants, including women, suffered severe shock and trauma. Fortunately, the police returned quickly after being called and were able to prevent the situation from escalating further. Video evidence exists showing the threatening gestures made during the demonstration as well as the first moments of the attack. The initial seconds of the assault were recorded before the situation rapidly escalated. As organizers and eyewitnesses, we consider this incident a serious act of politically motivated violence against peaceful protesters exercising their democratic rights in Austria. We call on the Austrian authorities to fully investigate this attack and ensure the safety of Iranian activists who peacefully advocate for freedom and human rights. *Long sigh* Here we go again. E-bikes. Or in this case, what are actually electric dirt bikes. Have you seen these two individuals? We know some of you are tired of hearing about this topic, but we’re determined to keep our community safe, and part of that means identifying the people putting others at risk. This video was taken yesterday around midday near Southlands Mall. One of our officers was patrolling the area when he spotted these two doubled up on what appears to be a modified electric dirt bike. These types of vehicles are not street legal in the City of Aurora and are classified as off-highway vehicles, similar to traditional dirt bikes, ATVs and side-by-sides. Only pedal-assist e-bikes are allowed on roadways and they must follow the same traffic laws as bicycles. These two were not. According to officers and security staff, the pair have repeatedly ridden recklessly through the Southlands area over the past several weeks. They’ve blown through stop signs and red lights, refused to stop for law enforcement and used sidewalks as their personal racetrack. As seen in this video, they eventually fled from officers onto a nearby path. One thing that makes this bike stand out: • The driver wears goggles strapped backward around the helmet • The passenger never wears a helmet • The bike is missing a front fender, which is unusual compared to similar bikes we’ve seen. This behavior creates a serious danger for pedestrians, drivers and everyone trying to safely enjoy the area. We wish this was rare, but incidents involving illegal and reckless e-bike riding continue to increase. Another reminder to parents: Know where your kids are riding. You had good times and you don't throw your client under the bus when they need you most. This is happening at world award winning Pinewood Beach Resort and Spa in Galu Diani. The owner Alnoor Kanji a very good friend and long time hotelier is one brave Kenyan who chose to be visionary and invested in a project that was adopted as a vision 2030 project The English Point Marina in Mombasa which finally went into administration. How it was done is one of the saddest thing and the matter is now court hence I will NOT delve too much into it. During the takeover the elderly mother of the owner ( she needed emotional care) was not even allowed to meet her son since he was locked out upon his return from his overseas travel. She finally passed away a few weeks after that dramatic takeover . The same owner is currently out of the country and you have found it fit to make a move for another of his property which is PinewoodBeachResort Pinewood Beach Resort that he has been passionately running with amazing scores as evidence. I have seen put love and care into the jewel in Galu Diani. You choose to physically move in during a peak period when the hotel is fully booked , you never saw the need to do that when it was quite and low season in May & June. To make matters worse your receiver manager is going physically against the young sons of the owner . Is that the way to handle a client? suppose the 200 members of staff who depend on this resort for a living went physical ? Doing business in this country is NOT for the faint-hearted and the least you can is to handle your clients in a humane way and also agree on modalities on how to service a loan etc. What is the use of throwing out the baby with the bathwater ? Matter is in court please allow the process to go full circle and also get profesional level headed receiver managers and not this type who are going physical. On behalf of Diani Hospitality Owners I condemn this violent act and law will also take its course since this qualifies as assault. It's a known known that banks in Kenya are good undertakers of businesses in distress and I am challenging you to make this move an exception rather than the rule.
