Why did Leopold Aschenbrenner’s fund initiate a new ~$44M position in $TE last quarter? T1 Energy is trying to become a scaled U.S. solar manufacturing platform and already has a 5 GW solar module facility in Dallas called G1 but the bigger opportunity is its planned solar cell facility in Austin called G2. Phase 1 of LPVT’s 3.08MW solar project is nearing completion and it represents something bigger than just another milestone. This is a factory powered 100% by “made-in-Nigeria” solar panels. No imports. A local factory, powered by a local team, using locally manufactured solutions. It’s a strong statement about where our energy future is headed. What stands out to me about this project, backed by Levene Energies, is their approach. As a vertically integrated RESCO, they are not only developing projects, they are catalyzing their own funding, manufacturing their own panels, and deploying them directly. That level of ownership across the value chain is exactly the kind of model that can accelerate scale and sustainability in our sector. The high-performance panels installed here will not only power factory operations but also extend impact to surrounding communities, demonstrating how energy infrastructure can drive both industrial growth and inclusive access. At a recent retreat with Levene energies, I challenged RESCOs to think more ambitiously, especially around opportunities within Nigeria’s localisation policy. It is encouraging to see that Levene Energies is already taking that step. My hope is that this momentum continues across the ecosystem. There is still significant room for innovation, particularly in areas like battery assembly and metering, where local capacity can further strengthen our energy independence. Told ya so… The US installed more solar in Q1 2024 than it did in all of 2018 I remember people telling me in 2018/2019 that I was ignorant for predicting that Solar Energy will massively expand and take a sizable chunk of the new energy market. In the first quarter of 2024, the US saw a record-breaking addition of 11.8 gigawatts (GW) of new solar panel manufacturing capacity. This represented 75% of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the US grid during that time. Total US solar panel manufacturing capacity jumped from 15.6 GW in the last quarter of 2023 to 26.6 GW in the first quarter of 2024. Oh, and the grid didn’t fail like many of you claimed it would. The grid has evolved along with solar capacity for the most part. And that's just the US. China is solar-bullish as well, as seen below. The next 5-10 years will see this space grow even faster, whether you want to admit it or not.

Karnataka has a significant and strategic contribution to India’s defence production, making it a strong contender for the establishment of two dedicated Defence Industrial Corridors—one each in North and South Karnataka. The state is responsible for 67% of the country’s defence aircraft and helicopter manufacturing and holds a 25% share in the national aircraft and spacecraft industry. The state’s industrial growth story is further validated by the success of Invest Karnataka 2025, which secured investment commitments worth ₹10.27 lakh crore, with over 60% of manufacturing-related investments already realised.
