Delta Airlines to begin using artificial intelligence algorithms to scrape your emails and more to determine the maximum amount you’re willing to spend on tickets, then adjust your price Example: If you have a death in the family, they’ll know it’s urgent and the price will go up ‘Delta... show more

I am announcing my startup that makes all tracking agents think you are poor so you get the best prices.

So Delta Airlines wants to read your emails, detect you’re grieving and then say: Let’s charge them more. They’ll pay anything. This isn’t customer service it’s emotional extortion powered by AI. And it won’t stop with airlines.🤔 🇺🇸Big Tech is coming for your pain.😠

Congress needs to pass legislation to make data mining for individual price fluctuations to be illegal.

So Delta’s new “innovation” is digital extortion? They’re not just reading your emails — they’re weaponizing your grief. Lose a loved one? Congrats, your ticket price just tripled. This isn’t pricing. This is surveillance capitalism with a knife. And once Delta normalizes it, every airline, hotel, hospital, and funeral home will follow. Where the hell is Congress? Or do they fly private so they don’t care?

They aren’t going to scrape “email.” That isn’t widely possible. They’re going to scrape *G*mail. *Google* products are the main thing that’s compromised.

Didn't this used to be referred to as "Price Gouging?" 🤔 Asking for a few friends @Delta.

as if scanning your asshole to board wasn’t bad enough.

Allowing non Whites into our business models have been a disaster for American society.

This is discrimination. It is invasion of privacy. It is treating parties differently in the market. So when a single mom of 3 kids finds out her grandma died and she needs to get to Wichita you’re going to spike her price? It is honestly despicable. And I hope someone sues their email provider for selling their data.

They are already doing it. NOW. @delta I see a price for a ticket and get to the checkout, error, then price goes up 80%! Happened to my wife as well. This is a huge fail which targets your biggest customers. Nice work 🤦♂️

Hello @Delta I am just putting it on the digital record that I never need to go anywhere and when I am looking at your flights I am comparing to other airlines and will choose to not go on a trip if the price isn’t super super low. Thank you for your attention to this matter

, @secduffy let me get this straight. You’re using AI to crawl through people’s private data… To detect when they’re in the middle of grief, panic, or crisis… So you can charge them more? That’s not dynamic pricing — it’s digital extortion. You’ve taken capitalism, gutted the humanity out of it, and replaced it with a black-box algorithm trained to smell desperation. Someone’s parent dies? You raise the fare. A child is in the hospital? You raise the fare. A family scrambles to make a last-minute flight because their world just collapsed? You punish them for it. This isn’t business strategy. It’s predatory surveillance capitalism at its ugliest. You’re monetizing heartbreak and calling it “innovation.” You should be ashamed. But you won’t be — because your shareholders love it. You’ll hide behind “efficiency” and “AI tools” while regular people decide if they can even afford to say goodbye to the people they love. This isn’t progress. It’s cruelty with a price tag. We see you. And we won’t forget. #boycottDelta

@Delta are you planning to use predatory tactics to price your tickets?

I feel like you could set up a business in an area selling connections where you engineer lower prices through networks that are pre-primed with data designed to fool data scrapers and AI. Hack the planet! 💪

Time to stop flying Delta Airlines @Delta I suppose. This is completely unacceptable and should NEVER happen!

@nedryun Rest assured, customers will go with airlines who don't rip them off. Competition -- its what makes America great.

Oddly enough, I think Amazon already does this with movies, but only using their own data. Lately I have noticed I can look at a movie trailer for a free movie, come back to it a couple of days later to watch it, and now it’s no longer free.

No doubt they're getting data for this from their app on your phone, which probably has permission to read all kinds of other data from the phone. This is why I refuse to install almost all apps. Use the web interface, and use VPN. Stop giving away personal info through apps.

The answer is don't fly. I don't fly. I'm not afraid of flying. I'm a pilot. But getting sexually groped at the airport to create a false sense of security was enough for me. I went from flying 2 or 3 dozen times per year to once every 2 or 3 years. They probably don't miss me, I surely don't miss them.

Make a fake email for travel only. Use that for reservations. Use it for no other purpose than travel. Once travel complete and you want to keep those emails, forward to another cache type email. Then delete from the travel account. Then they scrape nothing.

AI is going to be something we regret discovering.

@HawleyMO This is BS. My car insurance already uses algorithms to determine my rate based on my location. My insurance increases annually even though I’ve never had an accident! We can’t allow this to keep happening.

@DonaldJTrumpJr would be great if your amazing family opened up Trump Airlines with ample seating space, included meal/beverage service and free checked luggage. Perhaps even throw in a few attendants that smile because they actually love their jobs 🤷♀️ Crazy idea I know.

Over a decade ago, I published, with detail, exactly how data would be used to drive up airline prices. Welcome to 2015, Delta!

If there is room for corruption, people will find it. This can easily become out of control. It’s only going to lead to price fixing. Which no one wants that either. Especially the airlines. If they go down this path, it won’t have a good outcome.

Welcome to Surveillance Capitalism Airlines. Delta isn’t offering you a flight they’re auctioning your desperation. Funeral? Crisis? Scraped from your inbox. AI will charge you more… because it knows you’re trapped. This isn’t innovation it’s exploitation.

This needs to be banned. Charging people different prices for the same good or service outside of some kind of loyalty / rewards program should be illegal. I think this should include price variations over the course of the day / week.

Predatory. It is individualized price gouging.

This is Criminal and it needs to be shut down ASAP

THIS is a danger to democracy, as the Red states and people who are MAGA supporters will undoubtedly be assessed higher fees too, and it is all an egregious assault on capitalism make no mistake

Websites have already been tracking us and increasing prices. Airline prices are usually cheapest when you first look them up and increase when you keep checking the same websites. Always clear your browsers before you decide to make your purchase.

Supply and demand in a corporate surveillance state.

This is just them being able to steal your stuff. 🤨

If you visit a website looking at product then find advertising in your email without giving that info you know your are not in control, but google is using it to make ad money.

How would they have access to all one's Emails exactly? Sounds like a highly dubious story.
