We plan to eventually! It's not necessarily the best first use case tho, there are simpler and more valuable assemblies to work on first to get data and revenue to refine hardware and software

I believe it does not use vision and is all preprogrammed to find components in predefined locations. Adjustment movements, such as rotations, are also predefined. Can you confirm that?

For this task we can get away with force feedback and clever grasping algorithms given approximate locations but we do have a vision system for vision tags when necessary. We'll be using it more for future tasks, stay tuned!

I've observed the system successfully assemble the part, efficiently and precisely.

So… making a robot hand with 5 fingers is unnecessary. 3 is enough.

I would be more impressed if the robot pulled these parts out of a bin full of these parts and correctly oriented the pieces during assembly.

Its pre defined but it has quite a bit of clever (non ML) grasping algorithms on top of that to make it work correctly and reliably.

Good idea, it could but bolts and things tend to be on a similar plane for these smaller assemblies. I'll give it some thought to show in a future demo tho!

Too slow, too expensive.

I haven't listed the price publicly yet so that's speculative but we worked really hard to ensure it's not 'too expensive' 😁 For speed tho it's many factors cheaper than a human and can run continuously so you can scale up speed horizontally if necessary.
