There is so much going on in this video, and it’s all crazy - Man is forced to carry full insurance on a truck that doesn’t run - He bought older trucks so he had something to drive, the DMV makes him pay taxes on not what he bought it for but what the MSRP was - Registration fees on these older trucks is over $1,100 - He has to pay different taxes between counties - The DMV asks if he wants to assign a death owner to take over the vehicle if something happens, he’s told if he does there’s taxes on that too There’s so much more in this video you just have to watch, it’s insane what America has become

To fill the hole, he is pushing to raise income taxes on top earners and hike the corporate tax rate to 11.5% making NYC the highest-tax jurisdiction for earners in the entire country. He claims he talked to a millionaire who said they "wouldn't leave" over a tax hike. But economists (and common sense) warn that businesses and wealth are already packing their bags. He ran on "affordability," but it looks like the first order of business is making the city more expensive for the people who pay the bills.

Mike Lawler loves to talk about SALT, but what he conveniently leaves out is that Trump created the SALT deduction cap in 2017 to punish NY. It was set to expire ENTIRELY at the end of 2025, but Mike voted to make it a permanent tax on working families to fund tax breaks for billionaires. That’s the difference between Mike and me — he pretends he’s looking out for working families, while I’ll actually fight to lower taxes for the middle class and repeal the cap permanently.

One of the favorite Democratic Socialist talking points is that they just want to make America "more like Sweden". But the Scandinavian states aren't even socialist. They’re free market powerhouses with shiny welfare states. Just ask their own leaders! So when Mamdani pushes for wealth taxes and demonizes billionaires, he fails to mention that the Scandinavians already learned that lesson. Billionaires don't pay for that “free” healthcare system. The people do, through high taxes. And the people get the money to pay those taxes through their free market. You can't just pick the policy you like and ignore the infrastructure that makes it possible.
