Karen is a material witness, subject to deposition, in her ongoing legal matters. Mr. Doherty last night made the suggestion that she be murdered in order to interfere with and obstruct the current lawsuit. This is perhaps the most egregious form of witness intimidation possible, and if I were Karen Read I would be demanding he be charged immediately. It's noteworthy that Plevin, who claims to value civility, did nothing to admonish Mr. Doherty. Sarandon was uncomfortable spending that long sitting in a chair doing nothing, and since he had experience doing his own makeup for his work on the stage, so he volunteered to help.
