Space Age Love Song, by A Flock Of Seagulls (1982). Never a big hit for the Liverpool based synthmasters, but still a cracking song. 1982 was an interesting year for synth music: the New Wave had crashed into the New Romantics, sampling was still in its early years and MIDI and the Yamaha DX7 were yet to make their impact and smooth the edges of synthpop. The Kork MS-10 and the Roland Jupiter-8 were still doing a lot of the heavy lifting, and the sound still has that sharp edge and spacey vibe of early digital synthesis. Have a listen and see what you think...
