.Derek Thompson: There are philosophical differences between liberals and populists that we shouldn't run away from. They exist. But the fights often obscured the degree to which individuals could hold both populist and abundance principles. And I've come to think of this somewhat cheesily as the 'abundance mullet.' David Sacks: NO Federal Bailout for AI – “Build out, not bailout” “My entire feed was full of comments saying that we can't allow OpenAI to have a federal bailout.” “Look, there's not gonna be a federal bailout for AI, not gonna happen.” “We have five major frontier model companies right now, and there are new companies being formed all the time.” “And if one of them fails, hey, it's gonna go out of business and the other ones are gonna replace it.” “So nobody is talking about a bailout.” “I do think that we want to make it easier to build infrastructure in this country.” “And that means making permitting easier, making power generation easier. That's all about regulatory reform.” “And I think that the goal here is to enable a rapid infrastructure build out without increasing residential rates for electricity, that's the thing we have to combat.” “But the way that you solve that problem is by making it easier for these AI companies to stand up their own power generation behind the meter, and that requires regulatory reform. That's what the president has called for.” “So no one's talking about a bailout. We are talking about making permitting easier, and making it easier to do build outs.” “So ‘Build out, not bailout’ should be our motto here.”

Mamdani: As the mayor of our city, I will always look to keep an open line of communication with the president of our country, and to do so always with the interests of New Yorkers in mind. And that means making clear where there is disagreement, making clear where there is prospect for partnership, and also, at the core, asking: How can we make it easier for New Yorkers to live in the most expensive city in the U.S.? How can we make it easier for them to live here, be safe here, and for them to dream here?

You can set your watch to it. New York City’s new Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, just announced the city is in a massive $12 BILLION financial hole. To fill the hole, he is pushing to raise income taxes on top earners and hike the corporate tax rate to 11.5% making NYC the highest-tax jurisdiction for earners in the entire country. He claims he talked to a millionaire who said they "wouldn't leave" over a tax hike. But economists (and common sense) warn that businesses and wealth are already packing their bags. He ran on "affordability," but it looks like the first order of business is making the city more expensive for the people who pay the bills.

“We do this while ensuring that it is easier to build even for the private sector … These are the ways we can ensure that we build more than 4 houses per 1,000 people, that we start to get up to Jersey City and Tokyo.” Watch this and tell me again this is not an abundance YIMBY.

Energy abundance sparks economic abundance. That’s why we must pursue an all-of-the-above approach to energy development. This means investing in fossil fuels—and where it makes sense, renewables. But here, let me be clear: Developing countries can’t afford the luxury belief that all energy must be renewable energy. Men and women in these countries are simply trying to put food on the table—not virtue signal to their friends and colleagues. The priority for developing countries must be affordable baseload generation. And often, this means gas and other fossil fuel-based energy production.

"I will work with anyone, no matter what party they belong to." NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he's willing to put political differences aside to work with President Trump on making New York City more affordable. Mamdani says hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers are asking how they can afford to stay in the city, adding that he appreciates his conversations with Trump about "how we can make it easier to afford life" in New York. The two have previously discussed housing and affordability, even as they remain divided on other major issues. #BREAKING: Ari: Talk about your idea to freeze rent Mayor Mamdani: “…we are living in a time of politics where politicians try to convince the public that there’s nothing they can do and so to even have the idea that we could actually help people is seen as a departure from what so many are being told in this moment, and freezing the rent, this is about 2.5 million New Yorkers in a city of 8.5 million, the mayor has the power to freeze their rent.”

NBC's Sam Brock: "But for those worried that their taxes are going to go up and this is going to cause wealthy New Yorkers to just leave New York City as we know it, I think there's some important context to deliver to be able to generate that kind of money Mr. Mamdani has talked about raising taxes on millionaires 2%, and also making the New York City corporate tax rate match New Jersey's, that requires an action from the state legislature. He can't do it unilaterally. So it's really important, as we have a conversation about what it means to be a democratic socialist wealth redistribution, even as we have conversations with folks who say they're just stunned by the level of discrepancy between the haves and the have nots in New York City. And it's an issue that clearly has resonated with Americans across the country. Mamdani cannot come in assuming he wins on day one and just change the tax rates in New York City, it's impossible."

I grew up in this house. This was the dream. An affordable house. This is the universal story of New York. People came here from all over, and by their sheer force of will they were going to be a success. That dream is slipping away in New York today, but it doesn’t have to. Join my campaign to Build a new New York City: Safety, Affordability & Opportunity for all.

The bipartisan housing bill that President Trump hasn't signed is the biggest overhaul of federal housing policy in decades. The bill contains no new spending, but it does seek to boost supply by making it cheaper and easier to build across the country. @IAmAmnaNawaz speaks to former HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan for more.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman says “Socialism is a disaster” He explains the real reason housing is so expensive in New York City is because Democrat mayors for years have made building new housing near impossible “Why is the cost of housing so high in New York City? Because unfortunately, left-wing mayors have made it very difficult for developers to build in New York City. Zohran Mamdani, when he's freezes rents, he's just going to make the problem worse. There are buildings in New York City, many, many buildings in New York City, where half the tenants, plus or minus, are rent-stabilized apartments, and so their rent is frozen, and the other half are free market. And so what does the landlord do in order to generate enough cash flow to cover his interest expense? Well, he's gonna raise rents 'cause he can't raise them on half the apartments” “We can fix a lot of these problems with much better policy. Look at Florida. Florida's an incredibly well-managed state. They're talking about eliminating, I think they voted recently to eliminate real estate taxes. How are they able to do that? Just good policy” “You want the Ken Griffins of the world to locate Citadel here. You want him to spend $250 million dollars in apartment. Why? Because that $250 million dollar purchase made that building economically viable — You want to have the Elon Musks of the world, but you don't wanna discourage Elon Musk from locating his business here” This is what Democrats don’t understand, regulations and insane taxes are killing initiatives to build new housing developments I ran a comparison and found when you take into account all the taxes, permits and fees. It would cost 4x more to build an apartment complex in NYC vs a place like Orlando Florida

Elon Musk in a new interview on which of his businesses he is most excited about: “Well, I think that there’s increasingly a convergence, actually, between SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI, in that if the future is solar-powered AI satellites—which it pretty much needs to be in order to harness a non-trivial amount of the energy of the Sun—you have to move to solar-powered AI satellites in deep space. That is somewhat a confluence of Tesla expertise, SpaceX expertise, and xAI on the AI front. So, it does feel like, over time, there’s somewhat of a convergence there. But all the companies are doing great things. Very proud of the teams that do great work.”
